Biomimicry module led by Lorenzo Costanzo and Malu Luecking. In this session, Lorenzo invited students from the POLI.design Master’s in Design for Sustainability and Regeneration to connect with nature again. It’s a way of inventing by looking to the natural world for inspiration. Before we design anything, we ask: What would nature do? With biomimicry, we look for nature’s designs — its structures, forms, elegant solutions. We examine its processes and systems. We ask how all these organisms interact in ways that enhance the whole place. This module is a beautiful reminder to go back to nature, learn and design from nature. Nature is our greatest teacher 🌿 Curious about the program? Visit @polidesign to learn more. #POLIdesign #biomimicry #biomimicrydesign #inspiredbynature

A new challenge for the Specializing @master_fashiontech : designing a complete performance outfit for pentathletes. Through the collaboration with @tessitura_taiana_virgilio , students developed a single technical suit designed for fencing, swimming, horse riding, shooting, and running—conceived for competition in the Modern Pentathlon at the upcoming Los Angeles Olympic Games. Moving beyond aesthetics, students explored the @kinetechfabrics collection, conducted engineering tests, and developed fabric hypotheses to accurately map the distinct muscular and performance requirements of each discipline. The project required balancing minimal drag in water with dynamic compression for running, while ensuring full freedom of movement for equestrian activities. Access to advanced woven textiles enabled participants to translate research into functional prototypes, integrating targeted compression, elasticity, and structural support without compromising speed or versatility. The workshop concluded with final projects that demonstrated a rigorous, solution‑driven approach to performance design and textile engineering. "A Dialogue Between Cultures – India Meets Italy" POLI.design × @uid_india Unitedworld Institute of Design · Milano Design Week 2026 Thirty-nine students. Two countries. One shared language: design. POLI.design hosted thirty-nine students from Unitedworld Institute of Design (Karnavati University, Ahmedabad) @karnavati.uni — one of India's leading centers for design education — for a semester-long exchange that became something rare: a genuine negotiation between cultures, not just a collaboration between schools. Coming from fashion, interior, communication, and product design, the students worked across disciplines and across differences guided by POLI.design expert faculty. The exhibition they built together for the Milano Design Week 2026 was not a predetermined outcome — it emerged through the process itself, shaped by the friction and richness of bringing distinct design languages into dialogue. Workshops, material explorations, and curatorial development unfolded with the support of @designtech.hub and its ecosystem — D-house Laboratorio Urbano @dhouselaboratoriourbano , @puntozero_dfam , @isola.design , and @_materially_ — whose contributions brought diverse materials and processes into conversation. The @adpcomunicazione curatorial platform helped extend the project's reach to the Milanese design community and internationally. The collective development of the exhibition — a celebration of the encounter between our cultures — was, in the end, the most meaningful outcome of all. A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who made it possible. "Matter in Motion" — Material Becomes Experience POLI.design × Gruppo Mauro Saviola · Fuorisalone 2026 What happens to matter when you give it intention, a voice — almost a personality? That question was at the heart of our event at @fondazionesozzani , born from an intensive research program developed with Saviolab and Gruppo Mauro Saviola. Nine designers from China explored the Saviola Ecological Panel not as a material to work with, but as an expressive element to work through — transforming it into author posters and concept furniture that reinterpret masterworks of Italian painting. Research, sensoriality, and interdisciplinary dialogue were the values that guided the process. The results gave them tangible form. A deep thank-you to the designers who made it real: Wu Li · Yan Jing · Yang Xue · Wang Yijun · Ma Tao · Zhang Kai · Lin Changyong · Li Juan · Sun Lin And to everyone who made it possible: Daniele Merla and Ilaria Bertelli from @grupposaviola ; Michael Chen and Miner Xiong from Saviolab; project development: Mario Bisson, Alice Cristina Zingales, and Anqi Wang; and faculty: Anna Barbara, Valentina Rognoli, and Nicolò Gobini. POLI.design team: Giulia Pellegrino, Xin Li, Bianca Bartolomeo, Marianne Fosca, Sofia d'Alessandro. Special thanks to @designtech.hub , Maurizio Lai Studio, and Triennale Milano for hosting us. We are pleased to share more about the collaboration between our Specializing Master in Premium Design Management and Ecoluxury Retreats of the World, a leading brand in high-end hospitality dedicated to supporting local communities and preserving cultural and environmental heritage. Through this workshop, our students explored a research methodology that bridges heritage and artificial intelligence. Their work focused on: - Moving beyond generic digital references to engage with authorial sources and archival materials. - Ensuring cultural depth and aesthetic quality in every design outcome. - Using AI as a “variation generator” to extract high quality details from singular visual references. Crucially, the project leverages AI to valorize heritage, translating historical assets into artisanal products crafted by local businesses. By integrating high-end design with local craftsmanship, the students have fostered a model for territorial development that supports the circular economy. These outcomes align directly with Ecoluxury’s mission and the UN 2030 Agenda, demonstrating how premium design can drive sustainable, responsible innovation and economic growth for local communities. We would like to extend our special thanks to Enrico Ducrot, founder of Ecoluxury Retreats of the World, for his invaluable contribution to this project, as well as to Ludovica Pace and Professor Eugenia Chiara for their dedicated support. @masterbrandcommunication @serenaballabio @emich01z @francescadefanis
