Back in 2013, LosAngelesMoto.org hosted the very first Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride at the Griffith Observatory with over 500 motorcycles filled the hills overlooking Los Angeles. From there, we rolled through Hollywood, down the Pacific Coast Highway, and into the heart of Downtown LA alongside old friends, new faces, and every kind of machine imaginable. It was a different era of riding in the city — vintage bikes, café racers, hand-built customs, and stripped-down motorcycles ruled the streets. For a moment, Los Angeles felt smaller. More connected. Assistant Professor of Film Paul de Lumen served as director of photography for John Travolta’s directorial debut, Propeller One-Way Night Coach, premiering Friday at the Cannes Film Festival before streaming on Apple TV later this month. He’s at Cannes this week, and so are some UTampa students and alumni attending with Film Tampa Bay and FilmUSA to gain firsthand exposure to the global film industry at one of its most prestigious events.
