Working alongside @vincentcassel , a master of raw presence and effortless authenticity, was a long-held hope and a collaboration that leaves its own subtle trace. The impact of << Irreversible >> has stayed with me , much like Cassel himself, a force etched into memory. Each movement inscribes intention , not to perform, but to stay. But growth does not always arrive through precision. Sometimes it begins by leaving space for the unfamiliar. Ma Long approaches the garden through small experiments, guided less by outcome than by curiosity. In this process, he discovers that rhythm does not need to be forced. Surrounded by natural influences from an early age, Linda developed a sensitivity to natural rhythms and the living organism of vegetation. Her spontaneous practice responds to wind, light, and organic movement, where sound emerges through attention and proximity, and music is found through alignment rather than construction. After 5.5 months of process, my short film for @nowness @nowness.china finally comes into existence. Filmed across London and Dali, Yunnan, it brings together five characters in a parallel dialogue. Alongside this film, five individual clips unfold separately, each tracing a character within their own garden. A garden does not ask to be finished.
