AN INTRODUCTION Hi, you. How’s your day? My name is Benjamin Klebba. I started PHLOEM STUDIO back in 2009 in Portland, OR. I had lost my job in a custom woodshop and the time was right to start my own studio. My dad Ron Klebba started tagging along to help out and soon became a driving force at PS, with both fabrication and design. Then employees and design shows and shipping furniture all over and press and high fives and we moved our studio out to the Columbia River Gorge about 9 years ago. Somewhere in there I fell in love with Coralie Hews. @coraliehews Cory has become an essential part of PS, building relationships with clients, curating our showroom and gallery, making design decisions and building community around our studio. We make contemporary furniture from our collection custom to order with an emphasis on natural materials, exceptional craft, and graceful proportions. We work primarily with interior designers and architects on residential, contract and hospitality projects. Our showroom and gallery in Hood River, OR carries the work of other small design studios and artisans alongside the core PHLOEM STUDIO furniture collection. Come visit us on the weekend. Phloem Studio is pleased to announce a new collaboration with Ampersand Gallery @ampersand_gallery_pnw This spring we are exhibiting Unfinished Drawing by Jason Brinkerhoff at the PS Showroom + Gallery - 206 State St, Hood River, OR - and online. Please JOIN US opening night, Saturday April 25, 5 - 7ish. Wine tasting by Idiot’s Grace @idiotsgrace Music from Ben’s record collection. Jason Brinkerhoff (b 1974, d 2020) lived and worked in Menlo Park, CA. A visit to his studio often meant encountering piles of work suspended in this undefined state, representing drawings not as single objects, but instead drawing as an ongoing act, one in which any single fragment could be further marked upon, erased, cut or cannibalized. Sadly, this unique creative process was cut short and left unfinished by Jason’s own untimely death in 2020 after a prolonged fight with brain cancer. Established in 2008, Ampersand has presented exhibitions of contemporary artworks alongside a curated selection of books, anonymous found photography, printed ephemera and works on paper by unknown or outsider artists. Now located in the Columbia River Gorge, their showroom in downtown Hood River is open most Saturdays or by appointment. Idiot’s Grace is a family run winery in Mosier, OR who aim to make original American wines, wild fermented, singular expressions of place, offspring of the land, specific to their hillside in the river gorge. PS X VITRELUXE GLASSWARE - now available in the showroom and online! Coralie Hews collaborated with Lynn Read from @vitreluxe and designed a set of glassware for PHLOEM STUDIO. The collection was inspired by a beer glass in a Dutch still life from 1665. The collection started with a carafe, an aperitivo glass, a pint glass and a tumbler, all currently available in clear or walnut. Just recently they expanded the collection with the addition of a wine flute. Cheers to you and yours this holiday season. Euromax and hug your loved ones. We can’t wait for 2026.

Laura Desk. White Oak. Designed in 2013 by Benjamin Klebba, the Laura Desk is a modern secretary desk made with solid wood and hand cut thick veneers. Write your novel, grocery list or manifesto for the future seated at this contemporary work surface.

The Phloem Studio Gallery opened late last year in downtown Hood River and serves as a showroom for the fine, handmade furniture of founder Benjamin Klebba, as well as a space where Klebba and his wife and collaborator on creative pursuits, Coralie Hews, curate a unique collection of sculptural objects, art, tableware, textiles and books. @phloemstudio hosts an opening reception for its fall-season featured artist, Pacific Northwest photographer and videographer Genevieve Pierson, this Saturday, October 18, from 2 to 8 PM. The show features a collection of meditative and immersive photographs as well as a short film. It will be on display at the gallery, 206 State Street in Hood River, through the end of the year. SUMMER IS OVER. Summer 25 will always be the summer we bought a house then it promptly almost burnt down. But it did NOT burn down and we’re super grateful! Thank you firefighters, all our people and Watch Duty! We hung out on the water, had a group show, made furniture, hung w friends and family, hiked, went to the coast (Tony finally understands the beach!) and survived a wildfire. Summer 25 was A LOT. Here’s to the days getting shorter, stew season, shoulder season, the best season? HUG YOUR PEOPLE. Don’t say you’re busy when your life is just FULL.
