Maintenance is the sixth track from our upcoming debut album, Growth. Releasing on March 27 via
@floodlitrecordings , Growth is the result of over two years of writing, refining, and learning together as a band.
The LP spans nine tracks - seven lyrical, two instrumental. Thematically, Growth aims to be real and emotive, joyful and morose, all at once. It’s a huge milestone for us as we continue to grow as a band.
To support the release, we will take the album live on a nine-date tour across the UK. Starting in Hull and ending in London, this will be our longest run to date. We can’t wait to share all these songs in a live context.
Phill, on Maintenance:
“Maintenance is about the small, repetitive things I do to keep myself feeling okay - the habits and rituals that quietly shape day-to-day life. I’m very aware of what I should be doing when I’m anxious or stressed, and equally aware that I often do none of it. There’s something funny in that contradiction, so the song leans into it rather than trying to fix anything.
I’ve always been interested in how we make sense of ourselves - the language we use, the frameworks we lean on, and the stories we tell when things feel difficult. We’re all constantly ‘sorting ourselves out' - but it's the quirks we pick up along the way that are often the most honest parts of us. Taking ownership of those behaviours, instead of fighting them, feels important to me.
That thinking carried through into the artwork and the video. The masks (handmade by myself) represent our own baggage - the versions of ourselves we hide behind, or get stuck maintaining. At the centre of the video is Sami, who dances with complete freedom. As the video goes on, the masks come off and we step into his world.
For me, the video is about letting go of control, even briefly, and remembering that freedom of expression doesn’t need justification. Sometimes it’s already there - you just have to stop maintaining the version of yourself that gets in the way.”
