To the music in March? No notes 🎷✨ I could truly pinch myself from songs that scratched my brain the right way. It wasn’t just attending both jazz fests, it was electric performances at @untitledbasement to finally see @yussefdayes & @vennagram to how incredible @jazzinthecityct was to @jacobcollier making us his audience 🎶 to seeing @officialmanana do R&B in the rain ☔️ celebrating in lower case for @nonkzee grad 🎓 it was driving in the @ntombenhleshezi whip with the top down with @seba_kaapstad as the soundtrack but it was also seeing jazz across generations, sitting in the pit at @capetowninternationaljazzfest getting up close with @raveena_aurora so many moments that made the month special 🥹😭 and all the friends I sang along with on the way. #melodymondays #music #livemusic #concerts #southafrica

For the next “Music Behind the Musician” I got to sit with @raveena_aurora ahead of her @capetowninternationaljazzfest performance 🌺✨ Since I first saw her on @colorsxstudios in 2018, she captured me with soft, ethereal vocals. With three albums under her belt, her music feels like lying in the grass with the sun warm on your face. We spoke about her influences, holding space for her heritage, art reflecting the times and more. Tune in to the full episode on TikTok and drop your favourite Raveena song 🤍 #Musicbehindthemusician #melodymondays #music #interviews #southafrica

I had the most incredible weekend with @journeytojazzfestival 🎺🥹 probably the most intentional I’ve seen an event be in a long time and that was just the preview. There were soul stirring performances, laugh out loud conversations and the food ah, I’m liss just thinking about it. Can’t wait to see how the full thing unfold the last weekend of April. To @brendasisane creating something that truly has community in mind. The people of Prince Albert have my heart shem, what a time was had. #travel #jazz #festivals #southafrica

Que será será especially in México 🇲🇽 the land of tacos and many margaritas a day 🤞🏾 of long summer days and bikinis, where folks got down in the sunshine ☀️ To the time that was had and the friends I met along the way; take me back already. Consider this the first of many dumps of this incredible trip and a reminder that black women on vacation is still my favourite genre 🌴🥂
