Check out the latest season of Homicide NY on @netflix . For this 3rd installment of the series we got to return back to New York to capture 5 #truecrime stories culminating in a very powerful final episode about 9/11. Last summer I got to team up with director @jackmacinnes to capture the Black Hawk flight sequences along with some of the soldier reenactments for his @netflix doc series Surviving Black Hawk Down coming out Feb 10th. Ridley Scott Associates produced the 3 episodes telling the stories of the Somali people and soldiers who survived this battle. To capture the aerial sequences we deployed Sony Venice cameras with the Rialto extension which allowed us to move around the Black Hawk with ease while the camera bodies were secured to the @moviehawk . It made for an intense, successful day of flying. Thanks to the whole team!
Some of our interview frames from Season 1 of HOMICIDE - New York @netflix . Proud of our “compact” but strong team - they enabled us to embrace and capture NYs textures and the ever changing light conditions during the fall&winter of ’22. @jeremymusher handled the cameras & data while @travis_ulmer was our entire G&E team :-) With the help of various production members we edited/re-dressed the locations, purchased more practicals and did last minute wardrobe and set-dec runs. Teamwork makes the dream work! Many interviews ran more than 6 hours, into the night and some times spanned multiple days. Bi-Color LEDs by @aputure.lighting linked to Ipads and all controls close to camera allowed us to film uninterrupted, while riding the levels to adjust for ever changing ambient levels. All interviews were shot on @sonycine FX9s with Canon FDs 24mm & 85mm & BlackPromist. All B-roll was Sony Venice with a 50mm Kowa anamorphic with the Rialto Extension on the DJI RS3 Pro gimbal. #Cinematographer #netflix #documentary #sony #sonyvenice #docuseries #aputure

We didn’t clinch the win but had a fun night at the Doc Emmys last night! Thank you to the @televisionacad for our nomination in “Outstanding Lighting & Scenic Design” of our @cnn@nytimes docu series “The Murdochs: Empire of Influence”. 100 years ago an American Aviatrix reached for new heights and inspired future generations far beyond aviation.
