The performance is part #drag , disco, lip sync, comic book, video art, dance choreography and experimental theater.

Here’s what stood out to me after seeing @newwavedocumentary a 2nd time.

1. @lyndatrangdaile knew that the next generation must add their own spin to the culture, and I will forever channel that drive when needed
2. @elizabeth_ai ‘s direct convo with her mom, and her mom’s response 😭
3. @trace version of “Sai Gon” ripped my heart out. Trace’s parent Carol Kim sang the original version 50 years ago!

I’m changing the intro of my Fire Horse performance since I will no longer have my Ride Me Bú ): I’m still so tickled that this show came from @kevvfefe passion for Viet drag just a month ago and of course @fictionals was down to collaborate and then @sunnyflan and @idris_aguero joined on. Everyone killed it, so as we say cya later to Bú, pour one out for “Dark Horse” too.

I took the train to see Mai Khôi & the Dissidents @mai.khoi@markmicchelli and the band perform their new album “Five Years in Exile” in Philly! I’m so proud of Khoi for always pushing the experimentation including non-verbal vocals and for finding other talented musicians to create this acid jazz Viet energy. Khoi always has the coolest shoes too. The song “Joy and Pain” made me want to dance. Catch her on tour if you can!
