Belated @musicintheregions tour clip wrap-up 🎥 We only filmed one very chilly show on one little iPhone who tried her best! Here are some bits of Ravel and some Haydn at the end… the Sculthorpe and Shaw aren’t public domain so you’ll have to come and see those live 😘 thanks again to everyone who came along - see you Monday at @melbrecital !
Thank you @pennyquartet for performing my string Quartet at Wagga Weekender Music Festival. And thank you to Ian Whitney for organising such a brilliant community event and program.
Only a couple of weeks until we head back out to Wagga! We’re bringing a program of Silvestrov, @heathershannonmusic and Beethoven to Saturday at the Wagga Weekender Festival - gonna be big! ✨
The support this week has been genuinely moving. It means the world to feel so many people backing this collaboration and believing in what it can become.
Thanks to the generosity of friends, artists, and long-time supporters, we’ve now passed 70% of the target.
The campaign closes tonight 👉 benrobinson.com.au/penny
Announcing: Penny Quartet X Ben Robinson
This morning I spoke with Julie Simonds at @2mbsfinemusicsydney to announce a new work in collaboration with the incredible @pennyquartet .
After arranging music for their national Musica Viva tour with Jess Hitchcock, we decided to develop a punchy new string quartet that pushes things further. The live premiere will be at @phoenixcentralpark this November, followed by our first album release. A new direction for both of us.
Today we launched a fundraising campaign to help grow this collaboration from a single new piece into a body of new string quartet music.
