As I look forward to again being transported to another universe tonight by my wonderful MSO colleagues, our MSO Chorus in spectacular voice, two stunning soloists and our fearless leader Jaime Martin in the shared ritual of Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony, the serendipity of this excellent article from Wendy Hargreaves about the history, joys and no-brainer benefits of group singing was too much to not be shared! If Australia could embed group singing into the curriculum, in class time, from Prep through primary school, we could transform our nation’s culture, empathy, skills, wellbeing, education etc etc. There’s kilometers of scientific evidence to back this up. What on earth or in heaven is everyone waiting for? /church-hymns-and-social-beers-how-australia-is-reviving-the-magic-of-singing-together-250254?utm_medium=article_native_share&utm_source=theconversation.com

It’s my birthday! 🥳 So I’ve had so many of these now that I don’t need presents but if anyone was thinking of getting me something, then please channel any (tax deductible) resources to the Port Fairy Spring Music Festival where we can invest them in my extraordinary artist colleagues, our community and education projects in SW Victoria, and getting the word out about building the first regional conservatorium in Victoria. Now that’s something to celebrate! Here’s the link and lots of love 😁💃🏻♥️ .au/donate/
