ambient room ponce pr // postal 004 I’ve worked on this piece for many moons. As a Pisces moon, it felt right to share today. Visual Layer 1: Video I took from the outside of my bedroom at my house in Ponce, Puerto Rico Visual Layer 2: The shiny Mediterranean Visual Layer 3: A poem handwritten by me Audio Layer 1: Choir of birds I used to hear from my bedroom in Puerto Rico during sunrise. I recorded 39 sweet minutes of this symphony. The next day the trees were removed from the Earth. Audio Layer 2: Audio recording of myself playing the cello. @negrayosoybella I have dreamt about you many nights. Years before you came into my life. I’ve been a storyteller since inception. Hija de pleneros. Atraída por la necesitar de compartir las historias que más nos afectan. Producing this documentary has opened my eyes to a past filled with a web of connections. I feel so honored, humbled and privileged to produce a documentary celebrating la mujer negra puertorriqueña. I am connected to all the negras in the documentary and all the negras that helped make this happen. This has been an intensely gratifying and affirming experience for me. Negra, Yo Soy Bella is the first of many more to come. Our stories are infinite and deserve to take up as much space as cosmically possible. Thank you @vash.ni for bringing me on this ride with you.
