As many of you know, in 2018, Malibu Modern Garden was completely destroyed in the Woolsey Fire, leaving it unrecognizable. Over the past six years, as we rebuilt, we came to understand the profound healing power of community and purpose.
Even when we weren’t fully ready—amidst ongoing construction—the productions that came through Malibu Modern Garden brought an unexpected sense of renewal. It wasn’t just healing for us but also for the crews, teams, clients, and everyone involved. We saw firsthand how participating in the rebuilding process instilled hope—that life could move forward and thrive even in the wake of such profound loss.
We’ve witnessed the deep impact of bringing work and creativity into communities affected by tragedy. These efforts go far beyond rebuilding homes and livelihoods; they restore spirits, inspire dreams, and reignite resilience.
Now, more than ever, Los Angeles needs to keep working. For those of you looking for meaningful ways to help, bringing jobs to LA now has never been more important. The immense ripple effect supports countless individuals and strengthens our community. It is vital and how we can heal, grow and move forward together. This is the important conversation we should all be having now.
