POSTURAL INTEGRATION PROGRESS Before: April 2024 (Age 14) After: October 2025 (Age 16) My client began Functional Patterns training with me in April 2024 with the goal of improving his posture, movement, and overall health. He reported no pain or injury. We met once per month, and he remained consistent with his homework between sessions. Over the course of 18 months, the following improvements were observed: ✅ Improved scapular stacking and shoulder blade positioning ✅ Improved ribcage-to-pelvis alignment ✅ Increased intra-abdominal control ✅ Reduced visceral fat and improved body composition ✅ Upright posture maintained passively with less effort ✅ Greater walking and sprinting efficiency He now sprints multiple times per week and reports easier breathing, improved posture, and greater confidence in his movement. These results reflect the impact of prioritizing the four motions that define human biomechanics: Standing, Walking, Running, and Throwing—and using @functionalpatterns to measurably improve those foundational functions. - Broad Jump Increase by 18 Inches - Sprint Acceleration Increase ( turn on volume ) Before Videos: November 2023 After Videos: May 2024 I’ve been sprinting and jumping regularly around a year and a half ago. I wish I did more as a teenager. However since age 14 I’ve struggled with constant pain in my right knee. This pain made even jogging too difficult to sustain. I tried different modalities to stay active and potentially help my pain. I’ve done various forms of traditional stretching, yoga, standard weight lifting, and Ji jitsu. I found some benefits from these modalities. However my knee still bothered me and would oftentimes feel worse while performing some of these movements. I then learned about the FP First Four: Standing Walking Running Throwing. I learned that these are movement patterns you should not take for granted. These four are the primary movements that characterize human biomechanics. Not just that—if you can improve how you perform the First Four, you can solve the root cause of injuries and pains. You can record yourself right now and study how you yourself perform the First Four. I did that for myself and found many weaknesses. I began training my muscles as integrated systems meant to perform the First Four. Over time my body became stronger, faster, and efficient. Every time I sprinted and jumped I felt safer. It’s been well over a year since I’ve had any discomfort in my knee. I’m thankful that I have even forgotten what it feels like. If you’ve dealt with a constant pain you know how hard it is to even conceive of being free from that pain. I am currently doing maximum sprints and jumps 3-4 times a week. Other days I am in nature and working to fix my current weaknesses. I’m determined to demonstrate elite level sprinting and jumping ability, despite having a poor athletic background. I’m incredibly thankful for a team like @fpsouthbay and for the values of @functionalpatterns . Don’t just have fitness opinions. Show results. Be about it 👊

3 MONTHS YOUTH POSTURE PROGRESS Before: Jan 2026, age 9 After: April 2026, age 10 My client’s parents came to us looking to improve his posture and athleticism. When he started, they noticed he was struggling to keep up with his peers during PE, that his breathing appeared shallow, and that the way he stood was not well aligned. He had no pain or injury, but he did present with noticeable postural imbalances, severe balance issues, and poor lower body coordination. His family had previously taken him to physical therapy to improve his gait, but they did not see meaningful progress. After 3 months of training 2 times per week, the following improvements were observed: ✅ Improved ribcage-to-pelvis alignment ✅ Improved balance ✅ Increased lower body strength ✅ Greater running and jumping ability These changes helped create a more organized structure throughout my client’s body. His parents report that he is moving with greater balance and confidence. For more information check out: @functionalpatterns @projectfunction @projectfunction.morganhill @theleverking @fp.evidence

DISC HERNIATION, SCOLIOSIS, FORWARD HEAD AND WEIGHT LOSS IMPROVEMENTS Ashka came in for her initial assessment in September 2023, after struggling with a disc herniation that had caused significant sciatic pain in her right leg for five years. Every day, she endured pain levels ranging from 6 to 8 out of 10. Before starting Functional Patterns (FP), she tried various treatments including chiropractic care (weekly for 8 months), physiotherapy (6 months), and yoga (6 months), but none of these brought relief. After thirteen months of FP (as of October 2024), Ashka now reports zero pain in her right leg, with only occasional minor irritation. She is moving with more confidence than ever and building a strong postural foundation that allows her to develop and maintain healthy muscle mass. Inspiring progress Ashka. Let’s keep growing. Before Posture: ❌ Forward head ❌ Poor core engagement ❌ Hyperextended knees ❌ Anterior pelvic shift ❌ Right ribcage compression After Posture: ✅ Improved head posture ✅ Improved core engagement ✅ Improved knee alignment ✅ Improved pelvic stacking ✅ Improved ribcage alignment @functionalpatterns @fp.southbay @theleverking

In Southern California to put in work with @brandon_adamson_ and @andy.lam__ at @fp_costamesa . We don’t exercise. We fix faulty mechanics and replace them with mechanics that respect gravity and our human anatomy. I won’t stop until I pull all of this generational trauma out of my body.

Went to Merced to meet with @_martin._aguilar and hit some sprints at the track. I have immense respect for anyone striving to improve their sprint capacity. Sprinting is the greatest compound movement humans can perform. I regret not sprinting in my teens, but I can’t blame myself because my right knee always hurt and I couldn’t figure out why. At 25 years old I made a conscious decision to get to the bottom of it. I’m 27 now, and over one year into sprinting without any pain. Making sprinting the centerpiece of my training has regenerated not only my legs but also my entire body and mental state. If you’re experiencing pain while sprinting, there’s likely a reason. Find out why and address it. @functionalpatterns #functionalpatterns #sprintingisking #sprint #sprinttraining

Most people reading this would love to get good at sprinting. The issue is scalability—how to get more stable so the body can handle the forces in sprinting. Understand that humans have 4 basic functions: standing, walking, running and throwing. @functionalpatterns Look at your exercise regimen and see if they enhance these four functions. #functionalpatterns

SCAPULAR WINGING IMPROVEMENTS I’m excited to share the journey of my client Jackson. His dedication to optimizing his body has been inspiring. Here’s a snapshot of our progress: Jackson is 14 years old. His initial goals centered around enhancing his posture and refining his movement. CHALLENGES IDENTIFIED: ❌ Pronounced scapular winging ❌ Noticeable pelvic hip drops ❌ Significant right foot arch collapse PROGRESS GAINED: ✅ Enhanced shoulder stability ✅ Improved pelvic shift control ✅ Strengthened right foot arch stability These improvements have led to a notable change in Jackson’s movement efficiency. He’s now able to move with greater ease and fluidity, transforming his movement into something he enjoys. Great work, Jackson 🙏🏽 April 2023 - November 2023 @functionalpatterns @fp.southbay

Lower Back & Shoulder Stability Improvements February 2022-July 2023 Elena came to @fp.southbay with left-side hip pain, a sharp pain in her lower back, and tingling pain in her neck. She had a history of herniated discs in her neck and lower back due to a previous injury (stress fracture) sustained during figure skating. Her pain was exacerbated after her pregnancy, and was also diagnosed with endometriosis and an abdominal cyst. She has undergone stressors in her personal life that resulted in being diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, which made recovery from physical pain difficult. She has seen a chiropractor for physical treatment, but the pain continued to persist. On the first assessment, we only covered her walking as running was painful. We found many improvements that could be made to her biomechanics. After training together once per week, and a few times on her own, we find improvements in her hip and shoulder stability, resulting in little to no pain. She reports a stronger resilience to stressors, and improved muscle recovery. Great work, Elena. 🙏🏽 Before: ❌ Pelvic instability ❌ Lack of abdominal pressure ❌ Excess belly fat ❌ Scapula winging After: ✅ Improved pelvic stability ✅ Improved abdominal pressure ✅ Reduced body fat ✅ Improved shoulder placement @functionalpatterns

RELAXED POSTURE GAINS Evolving how you stand and move in space is one of the healthiest, most regenerative things you can do for your body. Divya is a Jiu-jitsu brown belt and muay thai martial artist. She wanted to see if FP could help her perform better. ISSUES WE’VE FOUND ❌ Ribcage flare ❌ Right pelvic hip hike and ribcage shift left ❌ Excessive lordotic curve (tight lower back) IMPROVEMENTS MADE ✅ Neutral ribs & improved breathing mechanics ✅ Neutral pelvis ✅ Better joint stack (longer back ribs) Divya: “I have a better base and stability when training Jiu Jitsu. More effortless power with my strikes when doing Muay Thai. Effortless breathing patterns and an increased stamina. I also have a more athletic frame.” - First photo is March 2021. - Training began in June 2022. - Second photo is April 2023. Working together once per week.
