I’ve been enjoying everyone’s year-in-review posts, so I thought I’d add my own. Looking back, 2025 was filled with teaching many wonderful adults and kids at @hamiltoncraftstudios and @plus_create . The launch of the Grumpy Face book with @inhabit_media and winning @makerhouseco ’s 10th anniversary giveaway were definitely big highlights!
Of course, I experienced many struggles, too, both personally and with my business. The biggest being the loss of my mom at the end of November. I credit her for my love of textiles (even though I resisted learning most of my life.)
So I’m feeling all the feelings as we are about to ring in 2026. My only hope is that I continue to work with kind, creative people and find ways to honour my mom’s legacy. ❤️

This is the quilt I made for @patchquiltshow ! I loved being on the organizing committee and I wanted to create a tribute to our very first show (we hope to make PATCH an annual event!)
So this quilt is based on the incredible branding Paige (@slowdancestudio_ ) designed for PATCH (swipe to see her handiwork and some randomly ordered process shots).
I used whatever fabric I had on hand that was closest to her colour scheme and added my own panache to the border. It felt like a true collaboration!

I made this out of all the drop cloths that have collected paint from my murals in Hamilton over the years. It’s a cool record ! Also I used a traditional Mennonite quilting book to learn how to do this and promised myself no googling.
I actually think that made things easier.

The first @patchquiltshow is in the books and our little organizing committee is over the moon!
When we started planning, we had no idea if anyone would submit a quilt or if people would attend. And what if it rained?!? We just believed in art and community and accessibility and hoped a few others might, too.
Never in our wildest dreams could we have imagined such a perfect day. And that’s thanks to all of you! Our hearts are so very full.

We are all responsible for one another, and it's really as simple as that. This quilt, along with many others, will be on display @patchquiltshow Sept 28, 1-4pm in Corktown Park.
