As a Filipino kid that fell in love with punk music bcos of my dad, I always felt like these spaces weren’t for me like I didn’t fit in
I used to vent about how there weren’t enough Asian hardcore bands today. Then I found Speed, saw the steeze them man had, the energy, what they stood for, and reshaping what it means to be Asian in today’s society, I was locked in
Seeing their continuous growth as well as Whispers, their shared beliefs and the space they’re creating for Asians and minorities is beautiful to see. I’ve never seen this many Asian and POC faces in hardcore before
p.s next time someone pattern a press pass pls, some donny dashed water all over me and my camera, luckily it’s blessed for now

These were taken in my hometown, Cabanatuan City, and around Manila – while stuck in traffic with my grandad driving. It was the last time I was in the motherland while he was still alive. I rescanned hella photos I lost from my old laptop recently – no dreamy beaches you see when you google Philippines, but the streets, tricycles, and jeepneys that remind me of my Philippines. Home.

This shoot was very important—not just because I got to create with my most talented friends, but because growing up in the UK, I was never exposed to Filipino creatives.
My mum pursued a career in nursing, which forced her to give up her creative dreams completely. Now, it’s amazing to see so many talented Filipinos worldwide doing inspiring creative work.
I used to keep a lot of my work to myself, but my therapist reminded me to be proud of what I’ve accomplished, big or small. So ya boys gonna start sharing more instead of letting it chill on my hard drive.
