Anyone who knows me knows how shit I am at telling people what I’m up to, and I can’t believe it took me until 2 weeks before the closing of this amazing experience to share that I had the spectacular privilege of designing the mise en scene of @donchristianjones “Sumptuous Discovery of Gotham a Go-Go”, open now until April 28th at @momaps1 . RUN DON’T WALK TO SEE IT before it closes. It’s a first set that I brought to life that the audience can actually touch and step inside of, and that was a lil bit terrifying. But I had to ask Don to help create this elevated version of the world we’d been working on in our outpost, Personality Design. I should say much more about it, but I’ll spare you that and say: don’t be shy about snooping around the archive or chatting with @regalsuggestion who has been tending to the space daily as a representative of @publicassistants , you won’t regret it.

Been struggling a lot with making anything, it seems fairly pointless in the face of…..the uncountable atrocities we’re witnessing. This phrase got stuck in my head during one of my desperate reading sessions that I’ve been diving into to try to make sense of senselessness.

This is a felt mini replica of the bombs NATO used in their 1999 bombing of Belgrade (and rest of Serbia). If you wanna know why, take me out of a coffee, let me talk however long I need to give you the story, and then go fact-check me (preferably with some non-US sources too). This spring’s second napkin commission: @eureka_minspace invited me to collaborate with their first culinary resident, the incredible @mahamscience to sew up and embroider a set of napkins with various organs Maham used for their final dinner (I took pictures of the napkins night of, but was tooo busy eating the amazing food to take more pictures of the beautiful spread). You see brain, kidneys, liver and heart. Also, we made a gigantic pillow of a cow liver. This is my first successful completed boulder problem embroidery from what will become my “embouldering” (s/o to @parallaxmoon for coining the term) series. I love the weird colors and shapes you see in any climbing gym, and the irony of making a space to practice navigating nature so unnatural-looking. For me, climbing is not only a fun activity, but it’s also abundant with metaphor, which I will wax on about later. I do have a story to tell you about this one set-up, but I want to get the sweet stuff out of the way first: This route was set by @claytonclimbs and Charles Simental for @inspire_routesetting . I originally peeped it when I scoured instagram for cool looking problems, and I found it on @sashamitty - check her out! The words were written by the haiku maestro @mutaurwa whilst I was rattling on about the ennui of navigating this sick sad world.
