Last year, AF responded to a call for sounds that reacted to the genocide and humanitarian crisis in Gaza. AF reached out to Oud master @samih.madhoun to collaborate. We’re proud of the track we made with Samih. He’s still going through it in Gaza, and we want to get his story out there. Please consider buying his records. Please support artists.
Echoes for Palestine, Volume 3 marks the closing chapter of this global series — but not the feeling behind it.
It remains, and will always remain, a tender artistic gesture of solidarity and compassion for the children of Gaza and the West Bank.
Lovingly curated by Rafael Diogo (Deep Dive Sound), in collaboration with Cities and Memory, all proceeds from this release go directly to Hope and Play, supporting children across Palestine.
Carrying the same intention and empathy that shaped the previous volumes, this final chapter turns further inward — into more experimental realms. Moving beyond genre, a new constellation of works from artists around the world emerges, drifting into electroacoustic and acousmatic territories — where sound sheds its attachment to form and becomes gesture, texture, and presence.
Here, sound resists simply by existing freely.
By holding space for harmony as much as noise.
فلسطين From breath-driven wind instruments carrying distant echoes of, to fractured sonic narratives where grief and grace coexist; from the dense noise of decayed tapes, where silence holds as much weight as sound, to field recordings dissolving into a low hum of tension — each piece feels like a trace calling for change, where listening becomes an act of resistance.
Across these 25 tracks, a living cartography of sound unfolds — raw, intimate, and unguarded.
Together, they form a space that is fragile, yet unbroken.
Because even here — especially here — hope endures.
The cover artwork was generously gifted by illustrator Burla Manu, whose vision quietly holds the spirit of this work.

Massive thanks to The J-Card Podcast for letting me ramble. Episode link in bio!
“Emile Milgrim is a Miami-based drummer, teaching artist, DJ, and community organizer whose work spans DIY bands, Brazilian percussion ensembles, archival sound art, and music education. In this episode of The J-Card Podcast, we covered everything from playing in an 80-plus-person Brazilian percussion ensemble, to touring with Las Nubes, to KEXP sessions.
In the mixtape segment, Emile introduces us to Miami Soul, highlighting women artists from the late ’60s and ’70s and unpacking the labels, producers, and scenes that helped define the sound. And then of course, a SOUTH FLORIDA DRAFT!”
"Don't I Know You From Somewhere?" our new album arrived at the Land of Entertainment yesterday. It is a record we are so proud of. From the recording with Omar and Ferny to the songs themselves and what we all put into them it is really special. This post also is about the artwork. Emile's dad, Lance Milgrim is the artist. I met Lance during his almost 2 decades stay in a nursing home. When I walked in his room with Emile for the first time he had on display at least a half a dozen of his paintings. I knew that day somehow one of these would be an album cover. They were very Pop art, very Lichtenstein, very Pettibon. As time went by I learned the figure he painted was a woman named Bridget and then a little later that Bridget was him as a woman. A song came out of that idea that even Emile's super talented brother Harris ended up on. I find our new album cover is up there with the greats and fits in with these others. Designed by Fig'm (Mariana) who made it a classic.
And the music ain't too shabby either.
Pick up a copy this Sunday at Sweat Records at our release show this Sunday 12/21 at 6pm or on our Bandcamp site. They will be available at My Mama's too next week.
