“How Will Our Souls Survive?” by 2025 Gibbes Visiting Artist @opusthimble [ Messages From Home: A Gibbes Film Festival official selection ] An animated short about creating art in the digital age with the weight of the world in our pockets
Animation & Music: Jack Powell | Time: 1 min 19 sec
Over the past 3 years we have curated a night of local short films, music videos, and animations to the Terrace Theatre for Rip City at the Movies. We have had so many great submissions over the years for what ends up being a one night only event.
So now we are running it back! See a selection of these amazing films on the big screen once more during a special screening of “Best of Rip City at the Movies” starting on April 16th.
This will feature shorts from all 3 years of Rip City at the Movies and hopefully encourage aspiring film makers to submit work for our annual event in August.
This year’s best of selections feature:

This is the first time I’ve printed my work, large scale at museum quality / fine art archival standards: pigment based inks on acid free 100% cotton paper, dry mounted in custom handmade frames • sort of a trial run for my @thegibbesmuseum exhibition next year which will include more large prints and animation • I sold two of the three larger pieces [ trial print 1/1s] at Kulture Klash and most of my merch table prints [ slide 3 ] ! • also gave away about 50 of these little prints [ slide 1 ] that I made on leftover paper scraps • grateful for everyone who bought something and showed love for my animated piece, as well as all of the other creatives that contributed to this event that brought us all together • thank you @kultureklashchs [ <- go have a look ! ]@albiziaapothecary & especially @insta.frantastic for knowing which ledges to talk me down from and which ones to shove me off of🪽
Large prints made at @eyelandgraphics • Framed by @drrrby and the fine folks at @artizom_frames
