@bigearsfestival opens next week in Knoxville--and we'll be there! @ghosttrainorchestra shares Moondog's creative legacy in a two-part evening of the composer's eclectic, soulful works. @wildup delivers a variety of compelling works by Arthur Russell and Julius Eastman, as well as an afternoon of individual sets and collaborative performances that blur the line between composition and spontaneity. Contact your DLAR representative to connect at the festival.
Repost from @bigearsfestival in advance of our show there in March with a short documentary by @fourtenmedia
…
We’re over the moon - so to speak - about what is sure to be one of the highlights of Big Ears 2026. For many years, Moondog was a fixture in midtown Manhattan, standing in Columbus Circle, blind, dressed in a long Viking coat, with a spear and helmet, singing, chanting, reciting poetry. Little did most know that he was creating a legacy of one of the great American composers of the 20th Century.
A huge influence on @philipglass and others. Thankfully, @bwcarpenter and the @ghosttrainorchestra have embarked on the mission to bring Moondog’s wonder-filled and wonderful music to a wider public, joined as usual by some very special guests. Take the time to watch this four-minute video. It’s fascinating.
