Hey fae friends!! I'm so excited to announce I'm rebranding - yes, again - but it feels so right this time 🖤 I've finally settled on a name that feels right, that I can build and play off of. Let me explain a bit about the name 🧚🏻♀️
The name Solunaceae is a play on the Latin name Solanaceae. Solanaceae is the nightshade genus of plants, and contains all sorts of plants from tomatos and potatoes to deadly nightshade and datura. Many moths feed on these plants, including the deaths head hawkmoth. I've been rearing moths for 7 years, and the death's head sparked my interest in them.
Additionally, upon research, I learned petunias are in the Solanaceae family - my childhood nickname is Oona Petunia!
I decided to call it SolUnaceae as a trick on my own name - Oona - as well as a nod to the Luna moth, as they are one of my favorite species to raise. My dad used to tell me bedtime stories about a fairy named Oona Luna, and lo and behold, I've become her! 🧚🏻♀️
My absolutely stunning logo was created by the one and only @simiealex_art 🖤 I fell in love with Simie's art a few years ago, and have been following her since! I'd seen her logo work, and knew that her style and talent was exactly what I was looking for. Working with her was a dream - not only is she crazy talented, but she's also incredibly kind and caring 🥰 she truly captured my vision, and I can't thank her enough 😭🖤 I also got an amazing friend in the process! thank you, thank you, thank you, Simie! 🖤🧚🏻♀️🦋✨
