Wonderful time celebrating southeastern #northcarolina seafood with #markwiens @migrationology . Started the day with an epic breakfast of Pamlico Shrimp and Red Grouper over @adluh stone ground grits. Because #okra is still in season we prepared a side dish called #limpingsusan (comment below if you know of this) Then we visited Uncle Phil’s, my buddy for over 25yrs. He has supplied me with the meatiest #softshellcrab you have ever tasted. All harvested in #carolinabeach. Later we dove deep into our pristine waters featuring #ncaquaculture focusing on some of the finest farmed #oysters from the #stumpsound area @middle_sound_mariculture thanks James. We also captured our areas only female Shellfish harvester in her element off of #wrightsvillebeach harvesting wild Carolina mussels @shellemseafoodco Thank you Ana for helping us bring focus on this under utilized species. Hope to see more chefs working with these soon. Great memories and thanks to you all for coming together to showcase #ncseafood @ourstatemag @thelocalpalate @southernlivingmag @nccoastalfed @nccatch @ncwildlife @wilmingtoncoast @chefscollaborative @montereybayaquarium @beardfoundation @bravotopchef @tidewatergrainco #wrightsvillebeach #carolinabeach #topsailbeach #wilmingtonnc @onebadchef910 @catchrestaurantnc @coachmommie

Yall sold out the first Saltwater Stories in a week so we decided to give yall a whole series for the summer Hosted inside Voyce, a Black-owned restaurant led by two-time James Beard Award nominee Chef Keith Rhodes (also featured on Top Chef )the series blends upscale Coastal Carolina cuisine with immersive public history storytelling. The first chapter of the series centers on Shell Island, the once-thriving Black beach resort community of Wrightsville Beach that became a symbol of freedom, entrepreneurship, joy, and cultural gathering during segregation before much of its history faded from mainstream public narrative. Because of the intentionally intimate nature of the experience, seating is limited for each event to preserve the emotional and interactive atmosphere that has made the series so impactful. The next 3 Shell Island editions of the experience are: Sunday May 24, 2026 Sunday June 28, 2026 Sunday July 19, 2026 The series will conclude with a special Seabreeze edition on Thursday July 30, 2026, featuring storytelling by Sister Elise, a direct descendant of the Freeman family, whose family still owns beachfront property connected to the historic Seabreeze community to this day. The Seabreeze experience will highlight the legacy of one of North Carolina’s most important Black beach communities , a place built by formerly enslaved families and Black entrepreneurs that became a refuge for generations seeking freedom, recreation, and ownership along the coast. the expansion of the Saltwater Stories series is also meant to formally introduce the public to WilmingtoNColor’s new year-round Black beach history tour experiences focused on both Shell Island and Seabreeze. Guests can now book immersive group storytelling tours exploring: Shell Island and the Black history of Wrightsville Beach Seabreeze, Freeman Beach, and the Black beach history of Carolina Beach at

I’ve known Min’s Parents before he was born. I started enjoying their food over 25yrs ago. Mom and dad moved away and Min and his wife have kept this family business rolling. A institution in Wilmington. I LOVE THIS PLACE. Yes it’s my Chinese food fix/ dive. I arrive at 11am sharp to get the best variety of CHINESE FAV you will experience at a buffet. This couple is a couple that exemplifies tenacity and strength. Hurdles, the finicky restaurant business, burnout, Covid etc. Y’all go by and support my family. Tell them I sent you . Go early to get the best offerings to see why I say they have FRIED CRABS AND SALT & PEPPER SHRIMP, BLACK PEPPER CHICKEN , Spicy Squid salad my favs…and the sweet tea🫡📸
