What a week at FIFDH Impact Days! Gerry Leonard, Director of Filmmaker Services and Impact, joined a panel that included Cara Mertes of @irisstoryforimpact Elise Tillet-Dagousset with Luminate, Mohamed SaĂŻd Ouma of @officialdoca , Laure de Peretti de la Rocca of @storyboard.collective , and Sandra Whipham with @thedocsociety to discuss insights, challenges, and opportunities of the impact funding landscape. Conversations continued throughout FIFDH and at the StoryBoard Collective House!
Working Films was able to give out the WF Impact Award, an in-kind consultation and workshop designed to strengthen a film’s impact campaign strategy, to the The Quiet Part by Rachel Lauren Mueller, producer Ariel Tilson.
Here’s more about the film: “When a pagan white supremacist group arrives in a Minnesotan farming town, it sparks an intense struggle over who has the right to belong, offering a disturbing warning about the normalization of extremism.”
The Quiet Part stood out for its strong and clear impact strategy and the team’s focus on grassroots work to tackle issues of white supremacy which aligns with our deep belief that power emanates from the ground up in small communities with big visions.
And throughout the week it was a delight to be in powerful community and conversation with so many, in a moment when socially engaged filmmaking and impact campaigns have never been more essential.
