Naomi Akvama’s Dissolution was born from four months of self-imposed isolation in a remote cabin in Røsnæs, Denmark — far from human contact, surrounded only by silence and sea. The work explores the psychological and emotional effects of solitude. Without distraction, the mind unravels. Thought peels. Feeling loosens. The ego begins to dissolve — not in despair, but in a kind of clarity. The piece asks: might non-existence, in its purest form, be a deeper kind of presence? The installation consists of a video projection and is accompanied by Summer, a haunting, looping cello composition by Danish artist CTM. The visual rhythm drifts between chaos and stillness — a meditation on becoming no one, nowhere, and still being deeply here. Naomi’s practice, spanning installation, video, and photography, treats the image as a form of listening. She works with what is unspoken, unresolved, and emotionally inherited — tracing fragile, layered negotiations between self, time, and connection. Drawing from personal and family archives, he assembles poetic investigations through silver gelatin prints, fragments of writing, and incomplete gestures. His images feel like breath held mid-sentence — soft interruptions that invite reflection without resolution. This series comprises four photographs and a companion text, together acting as elegy, fiction, and intimate self-inquiry. Each print is framed within smaller window mounts that obscure the full image, encouraging projection: a memory half-seen, a souvenir of something not quite named. In Let the Dogs Bark, a central dog caught mid-step echoes distant figures in the snow — part of the same disappearing line. Movement becomes ritual. Stillness becomes question. Nicholas David Burns’ work is grounded in sensory perception — shaped by his lived experience as an autistic artist and his deep bond with the tactile world. His series Haptic Memory is both spiritual and scientific: a photographic translation of how the body remembers through contact, gesture, and vibration. Using a medium format film camera, he advances the film with the shutter still open — allowing the subject’s presence to slip across frames. The result is an ethereal trace, a transition between moments, like the afterimage of skin on stone. Every image is literal memory — photons as haptic ghosts, silver nitrate as evidence of closeness. There is no beginning or end here, only sensation. This work inhabits AIR as memory, vibration, and breath. It asks: Where do I end, and the world begin? What does it mean to feel with the whole body? The concrete textures of an overlooked stairwell. The quiet between footsteps. The feeling of staying when everything around you moves on. Burns' process, which he calls touch-walking, is an act of sensory listening — an attempt to dissolve boundaries between the human and non-human, and to open new ways of perceiving through a neurodiverse lens. What does air remember? What lingers after form dissolves? This is where IT FALLS begins — a scent-sculpture collaboration between artist Matthew Snead and perfumer-curator Misia-O’, presented as part of off-RCA: の:Trace. Inspired by the humble roof tile — its endurance, its fragility — Snead reimagines architecture as collapse in slow motion. Working with volcanic clay, he coaxes forms that resist stability: slumped, cracked, exposed. His process is intimate and raw. Memory lives in the clay — in fingerprints, in sweat, in silence. It becomes a body. It breathes. To accompany these works, Misia-O’ composed AER, an ambient scent that drifts through the space like heat after rain. Notes of bergamot, pink pepper, hedione, ambroxan, and white musk evoke architecture undone — not falling apart, but falling open.
