For the last few weeks I have been without my phone and just staring through a view finder. Hereâre some photos from my recent trip.

âHow to sell yourselfâ is an interesting combination of words artists hear often. Usually framed as advice for surviving a system that rewards visibility, clarity, and constant self-definition.
A conversation about this phrase sparked the idea for this exhibition.
We were interested in what might happen when our individual images were placed in conversation with each other. By pairing photographs from two separate practices, new meanings emerge. Sometimes harmonious, sometimes contradictory.
We invite you to take part in that process. Move through the space with a friend or a stranger and spend time with each pairing of images. Discuss what you see, what connects, and what resists.

Music forms a huge part of the masquerade street procession. From original composers to brass band version of popular music. Over the last century, brass bands have slowly shifted from military & missionary and found its way into the hearts of Ghanaian musicians. Fusing european march rhythms with African polyrhythms.
Itâs a new sound. Sounds of dance and joy. What used to be sounds of control and uniformity have become sounds of freedom and joy in the twin cities of sekondi-takoradi.
Sounds played through trumpets that arenât charging into war but rather celebrations of christmas and a new year.

Community on Wheels was born out of a deep exploration of culture, history, and what it truly means to belong to a community. Through an extensive and thoughtful conversation with Prof. Sue Shon, I reflect on my own understanding of popular and traditional culture, and how to translate that understanding into my work.
Much of the research focused on the Ghanaian Chieftaincy tradition, particularly the role of the linguist as a mediator, coordinator, intermediary, and translator between the chief and the people. This role led me to an unexpected but powerful parallel: the trotro mate within Ghanaâs iconic public transport system, which dates back to the late 1940s.
Although these two figures exist in very different contexts, they embody remarkably similar responsibilities within their respective spaces. The trotro itself becomes more than just a vehicle, it transforms into a moving site of communal interaction, exchange, and connection. This project is an exploration of how culture travels, how community is built in motion, and how everyday spaces can carry deep historical and social meaning.
