Celebrating Ebo Taylor It was a big honour to pay respect to the legendary Ebo Taylor, our musical father, teacher and mentor as well as other Ghanaian highlife legends during our recent tour in Europe. My own musical journey and Amamere band owes a lot to Ebo Taylor. I became the drummer in his Saltpond City band in 2016, at a time when he decided to form a band with Ghanaian highlife musicians. He trained us, he trusted us and believed in us and in what Ghana has to offer the global music scene. We toured Europe, recorded the Yen Ara album and became family. Now it is our time to honour his legacy and what he has done for our generation of Ghanaian musicians. We carry his legacy forward and he remains always in our hearts. WEEKENDER for a special tribute celebrating the life, groove, and legacy of one of Africa’s most influential musicians. Afrobeat Academy shared a long artistic collaboration with Ebo Taylor that began in Accra in 2008 and led to the now-iconic albums Love and Death and Appia Kwa Bridge, followed by years of touring across Europe, Africa, and international festivals, introducing Ebo’s music to a whole new generation.
