Together, we took a massive step to fight child food insecurity in Ottawa Community Housing (@och_lco ) communities this summer. Our recently concluded food drive helped distribute over 30,000 pounds of food to families facing food insecurity during the summer months when school meal programs are paused.
Huge thanks to @khalsaaidca for organizing the food drive and helping with distribution, @lionhearts.yow for storing and delivering food directly to OCH communities, @italfoodsottawa for being a major supporter and donor, and to our dedicated partners the @ottawafoodbank and @ottawacarletondsb for doing everything possible to make this a resounding success.
When the local community comes together like this, we can ensure that children in our communities receive the support they need. 💙

Yesterday, we welcomed the team from @ikeacanada Ottawa to the Morrison Gardens Community House to see the impact of the beautiful kitchen they donated to our new portable space.
IKEA Ottawa’s generosity is helping create a warm, welcoming environment where residents can gather, share meals, and participate in community programs. We are incredibly grateful for IKEA’s support and partnership. Yesterday was a powerful reminder of neighbours helping neighbours. Thank you, IKEA, for helping us create spaces where community can thrive.

At the OCH Foundation, authenticity is extremely important to us. We’ve never wanted our social media to feel cold and disconnected from the people we serve. Community work is deeply human work, and we think the way we communicate should reflect that too.
We want our supporters to feel like they actually know our team; the people showing up at events, distributing bikes, packing backpacks, answering emails, coordinating aid drops and cheering on residents every single day.
Social media should feel like a conversation. If being funny, creative and real helps more people learn about our programs and support us, we’re all for it. So, if the algorithm brought you to us, stay a while and take a look at what we do.

Today, we welcomed Stephane Giguere (CEO of Ottawa Community Housing - @och_lco ) into our Build Your Path classroom. Stephane interacted with program participants, and spoke about career opportunities in the construction sector, along with the importance of these skills to the housing sector and society in general. It was a pleasure to see you today, Stephane, and thank you for being a big supporter of the OCH Foundation and our programs.

Go Team OCH! Today our team joined OCH (@och_lco ) to participate in the Ottawa Food Bank's Food Sort Challenge. This event brought together teams from across Ottawa to compete in sorting 1,000 lbs of food, all while raising funds and awareness for food insecurity in our city. And, not to flex, but Team OCH won the first round! 😉
This was such an extremely impactful way to draw attention to an important issue facing our communities. Huge thanks to the @OttawaFoodBank for organizing such an energetic, meaningful event and to everyone who helped make the day possible.

A big thank you to Khalsa Aid Ottawa (@khalsaaidca ) for distributing 250 hot meals to residents in an Ottawa Community Housing (@och_lco ) community yesterday. Over the last few years, food has become incredibly expensive, and the average family of four is expected to spend over $17,000 on food in 2026. At a time like this, support with food is more important than ever for many families in our communities. Events like these also help strengthen community connections by giving residents a chance to socialize and build relationships with their neighbours in a welcoming space. Thank you Khalsa Aid for your continued support and compassionate work!
