OUT NOW Placid Angles - Canada - OATH027 ID : Sun by Placid Angles prod by. @johnbeltranmusic feats : @insignificantfunds / @tomvalbyrotary / @yushh____ artwork : @blairfrenchmusic layout & typo : @_tijl mastering : @blackknoll lacquers : Anne / @dubplates.mastering press : @backspinpromo distro : @k7.music “On Canada, these defining qualities of Beltran’s work reach a new high point, evoking the towering mountain peaks, undulating forests and glacial waterways of Canada’s great sprawl in every ascendant synth sequence and reverb swell. There is no one fixed approach — every track has its own distinct qualities that feed into the undulating narrative of the album. The swirling fingerpicked guitar and pointed piano chimes of opening track ‘Sainte Anne’ might suggest an album of ambient to follow, and certainly there are some decisive forays into beatless composition on the likes of ‘Reminds Me Of The Rain’ with its cavernous polysynth drones and processed vocals. Likewise ‘Sweet Morning Dream’ cradles the record’s final stretch in a blissful cascade of gated chords. However, the majority of Canada is driven by rhythm. The title track creates a mesmerising balance of big room boom and dreamy atmospherics with liberal use of reverb, starting as a drums-first workout but steadily building to a glorious peak of symphonic harmony. ‘Sun’ is a dazzling, angular adventure into rapid-fire drum machine programming backed up with sweeping pads and balmy flute lines. ‘Hero’ finds its groove in nagging 2-step, offering an alternative vision to the evocative potential locked with UK garage thanks to the snatches of voice and nimble synth lines darting around the mix. The natural fusion of Beltran’s sound with this next generation of artists is testament to the evergreen quality of his music. Beltran himself acknowledges the nostalgia bedded into certain sounds he draws for on Canada, but equally it’s an album that could only have manifested in the here and now. It’s an open-eyed, open-eared, open-hearted expression steeped in past experience while embracing all that is yet to come, delivered by an artist with an especially emotive take on the techno trads”

“Joni” by Moomin. - OUT The final single before album release👁️ prod by. @moomin.de animation : @joe.tay.lor / @alexgamsujenkins “A figurehead in contemporary house, Moomin’s spellbinding sound—described as “modern house music magic” —has earned him universal acclaim and an ever-loyal following. But despite the accolades, Moomin remains modest: “I’m simply a music-lover, ” he says. His critically acclaimed debut album ‘The Story About You (2011)’ earned praise for its “resplendent naturalism” and “beautiful, introspective take on house music”, and in the years since, Moomin has deepened his sonic identity, releasing on renowned labels like Smallville, WOLF Music, OATH, and Aim, while also founding his passion-project label, Closer, specializing in vinyl and tape releases. His music continues to captivate, weaving warm textures and subtle tonal shifts into compositions of understated complexity.”

Out today : The second single from Batu’s forthcoming EP : Seize. A massive wave of support quickly gathered for the EP, with names like @tony_surgeon / @nicknoexit / @pedermannerfelt / @ianmcdonnellmusic / @__adiel__ / @om_unit / @ciel_dj / @jensen_interceptor_ / @sleepd93 / @l_y_d_o / @____cleveland / @antalheitlager / @hodgebristol / @pariah_uk / @verraco__ / @dbridge / @sherelle_ / @giant_swan / @kangding_ray / @jennifercardini …… and many many more. prod by @batu_timedance art : @_nic_hamilton_ layout / obi design : @_tijl mastering : Anna Taegert - @dubplates.mastering distro : @k7.music - First pressing is limited to 500 copies. “‘Seize’ is much more direct by comparison, chiseling a gnarly bass hook and rowdy beatdown into rude perfection with all the swagger of a seasoned dance wrecker. While these seemingly simple principles of drums and bass move with familiarity, the bristling energy crackling around every inch of the production, etched down hard into each fill and slithering around the breakdown, speaks to the accomplished intensity in McCutcheon’s studio craft.”

OUT : Times by Vakula (OATH029) 1) Break Time 2) Drum Time produced, mixed, mastered by @vakula_sound art : @ventralisgolden distro : @k7.music 12” : 300 copies, heavyweight pressing. “Times’ represents another seismic chapter in his story, one which contains a series of genre-defying blends that twist, turn, and enthrall with their ever-evolving beauty. ‘Atmos Time’ plays out as the EP opens up, and draws the listener close with a textured melodic chime and spaced out groove. The foreground contains much to dip and dive within, and via a shift transition, the gentle drums come into view. Floating along on a bed of cosmic ambience, the groove and melodic features cascade as one, drifting further through the layers of time and thought. ‘Break Time’ ups the urgency ever so slightly, with a similar atmosphere unraveling above an energised broken beat. The emotive haze in the backdrop seeps away at the halfway mark, as the track inverts upon itself and draws power from its core, swinging back into life with an arpeggio sent from the heavens above. ‘Drum Time’ brings in side B, and this one shifts perspective once more. The melodic sways up above merge and blend with the poly-rhythmic undertones, with the jungle-lite broken beat creating an enchanting energy. The track evolves through varying emotive phrases, each one chiming into life with the looping chord that acts as the track’s anchor - with such effectiveness, this one is golden. ‘Soul Time’ wraps things up, which moves into a distinctly ambient techno sort of realm. Dreamy pads and looping key lines intertwine amongst a captivating sea of mood and tone, as a laid-back beat shimmers underneath with poise and elegance. Vocal snippets add to the hazy atmosphere, calling out amongst the waves and clouds. A fitting end to a record filled with moments of tonal excellence, ever-shifting melodic feeling and rhythmic sequencing - an experience that forever drifts through the memory, always capturing the imagination…”

(LYAM012) - OUT Holo - Astro EP ID : Holo - Cycles (B2) produced by @holomusic.wav design : @cmdp.fk mastering : 1080 / @beauteneightsevenmastering lacquers : Beau Thomas distro : @k7.music 12” is limited to 300 copies. “Berlin-based Holo makes dance music that speaks in carefree whispers, through a brilliantly constructed sound that leans as much on the hypnotically emotive as on the core fundamentals of composition. His music is multifaceted, a series of synchronized layers that chime along to the rhythms and yet are not bound to them, instead allowing for moments of pure instrumental magic to occur. Primarily embedded within the deeper side of house, Holo adds a distinctive touch to his records through the thoughtful application of a myriad of harmonic features that interweave with ease and intuition. This poly-laden approach allows for all manner of surprises to come forth in his music, all of which is wrapped up in concise yet free-flowing songs that channel through the mind and the body, embracing them no matter what context. There’s an anchor to his music, one which allows for the delicate soul found within to boundlessly explore and harmonise, to seek and nurture bonds with listeners.”

Full Campaign Report : Canada by Placid Angles / John Beltran. Pitchfork : “The Ann Arbor producer dusts off an alias he used on a 1996 ambient-techno classic and gives his jazzy, atmospheric dance music a jolt of fresh energy” Herb Sundays : “The oeuvre of John Beltran is miles wide, though he takes up precious little space on the usual lists or amongst the Techno gossip mill. Or, better put by Shawn Reynaldo: “The history of Midwestern dance music is littered with unheralded figures and under-celebrated heroes, and while John Beltran hasn’t exactly toiled in obscurity during the past 30 years, it does seem bizarre that his music continues to be something of a niche concern.” Tone Glow : “Beltran might be one of Michigan’s most overlooked producers, but Canada is another essential entry in his archive.“ Ban Ban Ton Ton : “John Beltran’s latest long-player as Placid Angles was promo’d last year with the title track Canada. This seemed to be a very respectful nod toward 90s “ambient” Aphex Twin, and in the press release Beltran stated that the album was intentionally a nostalgic “peak” into his own pioneering back catalogue, and those of his contemporaries. This statement is borne out by the rest of the record.” also featured on : The Predatory Wasp, Groove.DE, Tone Glow, Join The Future, Juno. press campaign managed by @backspinpromo / Gamall Awad.

OATH028 - OUT C.ling - Vault With Holes - Limited to 300 copies. - 180g heavyweight pressing. - The “Rainbow” beam on the front cover will feature spot UV gloss. ID : C.ling - Stranded Matter prod. by @___c.ling___ artwork : @ventralisgolden distro : @k7.music “C.ling consists of lifelong friends Paul Brunet and Alexandre Maillet, who originally met in their hometown of Bordeaux but are now based in Paris and Brussels. The pair’s audio approach was initially inspired by genres and sounds not typically present within Bordeaux’s local music scene, which led them to look beyond the periphery and digging deep into the continent’s extensive and sonically diverse electronic music network. This experimental, boundless framework and ethos, when paired with their classical background, led to the duo to toy with a variety of instrumentation and melting pots of sound, from which their rich musical universe has emerged. Combining hyper-kinetic sound design, thoughtful and delicate instrumentation, and a fluid, polyrhythmic layering approach, C.ling’s sound speaks to the senses via its immersive scenery and harmonic, pulsating undercurrent. Like the shiftings of sand or the gentleness of a breeze, their music is embellished with deeper meanings, one which murmur and shift through the drums, keys, guitar, violins, vocals, field recordings and more. It’s music that perceives uniquely, feeling its stylistic journey out through spaces of which some feel well trodden, whilst others are being walked through for the first time. Herein lies the magic at the heart of C.ling’s sound. ‘Vault with Holes’ encapsulates the musical universe that C.ling have crafted, in more ways than one. The record is rooted in the theme of remembrance, which surfaces and permeates through enlightening and revealing song structures and motifs. Genre-less at times, the pair merge both distinctiveness and a sense of sinuous musical feeling throughout the record, where the thresholds between songs feel like chapter breaks - reading up on past glories yet firmly rooted in the day to day, effortlessly presented through hyper-polished, thought-provoking musical outputs.”
