ATTN NEW YORK: #FREETREE GIVEAWAY SEASON IS HERE! 🌳 We are giving away 3,750 free native tree saplings throughout #NYC starting Saturday, April 4 💐 Go to nyrp.org/freetree to find a giveaway near you📍
NOTE: to receive the free tree you registered for, you MUST show up within the first hour of the giveaway.
As of now, registration for all tree giveaway events is full, but you may still be able to get a tree at these events. Not everyone who registers in advance will come to pick up their tree, so we always have trees available for first-come, first-serve walk-ups during the second half of each event. If you plan on attending an event with full registration, we recommend arriving at the beginning of the event to add yourself to the waitlist. We will start distributing all remaining trees to people on the waitlist at the start of the second hour.
Thank you to our partners @bloombergdotorg , @citizensbank Philanthropic Foundation, @tdbank_us Charitable Foundation, @delta , @cmshekar25 , and @cmrestler for making these tree giveaways possible 💚
Thank you, NYC! 💚 All of our #FreeTree giveaways are fully registered, but you can still try to get on the waitlist! 📋🌳

New York may be called a concrete jungle, but New Yorkers still love making things green. 🌳
Founded by @bettemidler in 1995, the New York Restoration Project has planted trees, restored gardens and parks, and transformed city spaces into beautiful community havens that connect us back to nature.
Meet Michael Horwitz, Public Programming Manager at @nyrp , who’s helping put 3,750 free native trees into the hands of New Yorkers at Tree Giveaway events throughout the city. From Pawpaw to American Persimmon to Flowering Dogwood, these trees will cool blocks, clean air, and grow neighborhood canopy where it’s needed most.
Register at nyrp.org/freetree to claim your tree!
New York’s communities are strengthened by @partnership4nyc member companies like @bloomberg , @delta , and @tdbank_us and their employees who show up, give back, and invest in the city they call home.

I love that New York Restoration Project (@nyrp ) is so intentional about what they put into our hands. These aren’t just any trees—they’re chosen to thrive here, to grow with this city, to become part of its future.
And some of them? Dahling… they give back in the most delicious ways. Think fruit, fragrance, blooms that stop you in your tracks. A whole little ecosystem, right outside your door.
If you’ve got a bit of private space anywhere in the five boroughs, you can take one home and make it yours. Nurture it. Watch it change with the seasons. Let it become part of your story—and your neighborhood’s.

Because planting something that outlives you?
That’s legacy. 🌳
