HAPPY DANCE PARADE DAY! May 16 is finally here and the weather is looking amazing for our 20th Anniversary! We will pin this post as a quick reference guide for today’s celebrations!
DANCE PARADE starts at 11:30AM with a ribbon cutting at 17th St. and 6th Avenue! Dance groups will need to check in at 17th Street and 5th Avenue. See the parade route map in the second slide to catch the parade along 6th Avenue, 8th St., Astor Place or St. Marks Place!
DanceFest is our FESTIVAL portion at Tompkins Square Park with stage performances starting as early as 2PM! Schedules for today’s performances, dance classes and more are listed on our website at danceparade.org! Links are all in bio including the After Party at Nublu 151. Look for our New York Dance Police for discounted After Party tickets!
As a community, let’s enjoy today but also show some patience and kindness if things don’t quite go smoothly. Look for our team members in light blue shirts for help but also look out for one another. We have water for everyone and restroom facilities can be located at our start area, Astor Place Grandstand and at Tompkins Square Park. Indoor facilities can be found at a lot of shops along the way including Whole Foods, Container Store, Wegman’s, Swiss Institute, etc. We encourage patronizing the businesses in the area including restaurants, bars, pizza places and local favorites like Ray’s Candy Store, Lucky’s on B, Crif Dogs, to name a few.
