Numéro art heads today to Singapore, where the exhibition of the finalists of the 2026 Loewe Foundation Craft Prize @loewe @loewefoundation has just opened at the @nationalgallerysingapore . Marking the first edition under Loewe’s new creative directors, Jack McCollough @jackmccollough and Lazaro Hernandez @lazro , the Spanish house continues to champion a craft scene in constant reinvention, where ancestral techniques meet radical experimentation across generations and continents. This year’s winner, Jongjin Park @jongjinpark_ceramics , was awarded for Strata of Illusion (2025), a seat-like sculptural form balancing between control and collapse. Built from thousands of layered sheets of paper coated in coloured porcelain slip, the work transforms in the kiln as heat and gravity burn away the paper structure, allowing the piece to slump and distort into its final shape. The jury also awarded two special mentions. The collective Baba Tree Master Weavers @babatreebaskets alongside Álvaro Catalán de Ocón @alvarocatalandeocon were recognised for Frafra Tapestry (2024), a monumental woven work inspired by aerial views of traditional villages in Ghana’s Gurunsi region. Combining architectural plans developed in Madrid with weaving techniques transmitted in Ghana using elephant grass, the project was praised for bridging contemporary technology with ancestral knowledge while preserving the memory of endangered architectural traditions. Italian artist Graziano Visintin also received a special mention for Collier (2025), two necklaces composed of tiny gold cubes decorated with niello, an ancient metalworking technique. The jury highlighted the painterly delicacy of the work, where miniature compositions unfold across the surface of the jewellery with remarkable precision. All photos : courtesy of @loewefoundation

The new issue of Numéro art celebrates on its cover Stanislava Kovalcikova @queenstagrame , laureate of the Reiffers 2026 Prize. The artist has been photographed by @katjarahlwes at @reiffers_initiatives . Check out our new issue out now! Represented by @emalinofficial and @antennaspace and recently exhibited at the @kunstvereinfreiburg and currently on view at @reiffers_initiatives , Stanislava Kovalcikova unfolds theatrical worlds where mystery, sensuality and tension collide. Through painting and sculpture, the artist plays with light, mirrors, textiles and the very limits of perception, blending modernist references with traces of contemporary decadence. Exploring confrontation, fear and psychosexual impulses, Stanislava Kovalcikova strips painting down to its most visceral dimension, where the weight of history meets the fragility of the present moment. 1 : Numéro art 18 cover by @katjarahlwes . Today, Numéro art celebrates the opening of the French Pavilion at the @labiennale , where @ytobarrada represents France with a major exhibition curated with @myriambensalah . From textile to film, sculpture to installation, Yto Barrada unfolds a practice where fragile memories, marginal narratives and modest gestures intersect. Conceived around the figure of Saturn, the exhibition weaves together mythologies, literary echoes and artisanal knowledge, in a rhythm that evokes both labour and the transmission of culture. Designed as a poetic and immersive environment, the pavilion is inhabited by micro-histories that invite us to slow down and attune to quieter voices, echoing the vision of Koyo Kouoh, curator of this edition of the Biennale, who sadly passed away in 2025. The project also reflects Yto Barrada’s longstanding commitment to preservation and sharing, notably through the @cinemathequedetanger and @themothership_tangier , her garden-residency dedicated to natural dyes. At once intimate and political, the exhibition echoes France’s engagement with environmentally conscious practices and affirms a vision of art as a space for connection, transmission and visibility. On view from May 9 to November 22, 2026. All photos : courtesy of the French Pavilion.

Today, Numéro art takes you to one of the most anticipated show opening of the @labiennale , at @fondazioneprada in Venice for “Helter Skelter: Arthur Jafa and Richard Prince”, on view at Ca' Corner della Regina. The outstanding exhibition forms actually an unofficial but so relevant US pavilion of the Venice Biennale. Curated by Nancy Spector @nespector , the exhibition brings together more than fifty works by Arthur Jafa @anamibia and Richard Prince, staging an unprecedented dialogue between two major figures of American art. Through photographs, videos, installations, sculptures and paintings, both artists explore a shared practice of image appropriation, drawing from the vast reservoir of popular culture. Installed across the Venetian palazzo, the show unfolds through a series of juxtapositions that reveal their mutual obsessions, from cinema and music to social media and subcultures, while exposing what Nancy Spector describes as "an unflinching exposé on America", shaped by history, mythologies and contradictions. On view from May 9 to November 23, 2026. All photos : courtesy of @fondazioneprada .

FASHION IS ART or ART MEETS FASHION? Numero art has been celebrating this encounter since its creation 8 years ago. Today, we are happy to do it again, in our own way, by unveiling an exclusive digital cover featuring the very first @dior Couture collection by jonathan.anderson photographed by @gabrielerosati_ for our upcoming issue, out May 7. In our pages, the mind-blowing look on the cover is in dialogue with a fantastic ceramic by artist @magdaleneodundo . Indeed, earlier this year, at @museerodinparis , Jonathan Anderson set his first Dior couture collection in dialogue with ceramic works by the artist Magdalene Odundo. In this new issue, Numero art prolongs this encounter in an exclusive series of diptychs that pair couture looks with clay vessels, setting forms in tension to the point where the body becomes an object and the object a living memory. As Anderson and Odundo tell us, what they have in common is the same obsession with form, viewed as a physical experience involving structure, gesture, and transformation. Numéro art unveils today a cover of its new issue, out May 7, featuring celebrated artist Michael Armitage @michael_armitage_studio photographed at @palazzo_grassi in Venice by Ola Rindal @olarindal . As the Biennale di Venezia opens this week, Michael Armitage’s exhibition at Pinault Collection museum stands out as one of its key highlights, affirming his singular place on the contemporary art scene. At Palazzo Grassi, Michael Armitage is showing paintings of a rare intensity, which immediately seduce the eye with their virtuoso compositions and handling of colour. Inspired by contemporary East African life, his scenes rendered in the grand European tradition constitute a world at once grounded in reality and entirely hallucinatory. Today, Numéro art takes you to @thaddaeusropac galleries in Paris where has just been unveiled two major exhibitions: a new presentations by Anselm Kiefer in Pantin and a show of @adrian.ghenie in the Marais. In Pantin, Nymphäum brings together more than twenty new paintings by Anselm Kiefer, where layered surfaces and collaged materials reimagine narratives drawn from classical mythology. Referencing ancient sanctuaries dedicated to nymphs, the exhibition transforms the space into a painterly environment where myth and matter intertwine, extending a practice shaped over more than five decades. On view until October 25, 2026. In the Marais, the exhibition Roman Campagna presents new paintings and charcoal drawings by Adrian Ghenie, created following his recent move to Rome. Engaging with the tradition of landscape painting, the artist revisits the genre through his distinctive visual language, balancing pastoral references with a sense of contemporary tension. Today, Numéro art takes you to the south of France to discover “Sea, Pop & Sun”, a new exhibition now on view at Villa Carmignac @fondationcarmignac . Inspired by the famous song by Serge Gainsbourg, the exhibition revisits the hedonistic pulse of the 1960s and 70s, when the Mediterranean became a stage for liberation, desire and new social codes. Curated by Dieter Buchhart and Anna Karina Hofbauer, it sees pop art drift away from urban imagery to embrace sun, sea and sky, unfolding a more luminous and almost cosmic dimension. Bringing together nearly 80 works, the show creates a dialogue between major figures such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Martial Raysse, and contemporary artists including Derrick Adams and Cosima von Bonin. Between celebration and disillusion, “Sea, Pop & Sun” reactivates the pop spirit as both an ecstatic vision of freedom and a reflection on its limits in today’s saturated world. On view until November, 1st, 2026. 1. Marjorie Strider 2. Evelyne Axell 3. Jeff Koons, Martin Parr, Derrick Adams 4. Théo Mercier 5. Andy Warhol 6. Ed Ruscha 7. Roy Lichtenstein
