This week in New York: Eva Helene Pade at @TEFAF NEW YORK (Stand 345)  In her most recent series of paintings, Eva Helene Pade explores the violent and seductive forces of the crowd, turning with increasing focus to night scenes that exist beyond any specific time, place or subject. Installed in the round on floor-to-ceiling metal posts, the monumental canvases position the viewer as a participant within the commotion, caught between bodies, smoke, flames and shadows – each moment suspended in lyrical, virtuosic passages of figuration.  TEFAF Talks | Meet the Experts Join us on the stand on Saturday 16 May, 2.30—3pm, as Pade will discuss ‘Jagt’ (‘Hunt’), a recent painting that reflects her engagement with historical hunting imagery, and draws on its choreography. 15—19 May 2026 @evahpade #EvaHelenePade #ThaddaeusRopac Images: 1, 2 & 4. 📸 © @julienbenhamouphotographe — 👀The Palais Garnier welcomes its twelfth and final artist in residence as part of “PROJECT 12”: @evahpade , represented by the @thaddaeusropac gallery. The Danish artist follows in the tradition of Nordic and German Expressionist painters such as Edvard Munch, James Ensor, and Otto Dix. Her work explores the question of the female body and its representations through organic crowd scenes, where the influence of Pina Bausch notably emerges, and from which emanate a muted sense of unease and latent violence, suggested by the fragmented presence of faceless individuals. 👉 Learn more about “PROJECT 12” via the link in bio. #operadeparis #arop #PalaisGarnier150

On view at Thaddaeus Ropac Ely House, London & now online: Eva Helene Pade, Søgelys Suspended on floor-to-ceiling metal posts, the paintings in the exhibition are set away from the walls to create dynamic spatial configurations. Much like choreography, ‘it forces people to move within them,’ Pade says, ‘but also to connect the paintings together. I create them together, like an ensemble; they talk together.’ Pade is drawn to the commotion of the ensemble – how, within a crowd, a single figure might begin to lose distinction, morph into another, or distort as it surges and contracts. In her paintings, casts of jewel-toned bodies gather in thrumming, indeterminate spaces that recall nightclubs or theatres. The female body is central to Pade’s practice, making up the majority of the figures in her crowd scenes. Departing from art- historical traditions, it is depicted not as an object of gaze or individual identity, but as a vehicle of collective expression and embodiment. Watch the full interview and explore online via the link in our bio. Visit the exhibition until 23 December 2025. @evahpade #EvaHelenePade #ThaddaeusRopac Video by @tomthistlethwaite

In a gallery room at @thaddaeusropac , the work of Eva Helene Pade (@evahpade ) disrupts stillness with a charged sense of movement and memory. Her exhibition unfolds through sculptures and installations that twist fragile materials into forms of uncanny familiarity, plywood and plaster become skeletal architectures of memory, echoing loss and transformation. Pade builds forms that feel caught in transition, establishing a fluid, dreamy style, with pieces carefully held between becoming and decline. The works continue to explore distortion and movement, with subtle shifts in tone and texture that draw your eye through a choreographed dance of emotion, each figure displaying its own primal language. In these works, emptiness carries weight and silence shapes space. Pade invites you into a half-remembered world crafted from vulnerability and impression. The gallery becomes a threshold where material speaks quietly but insistently, and where the act of looking becomes a small act of recognition. A golden haze, sweat and smoke, the vibrations of pulsating music, and the flickering of a distant strobe light—the sensuous paintings of Eva Helene Pade (@evahpade ) allude to the heady atmosphere of a nightclub. Relishing in primal, earthly pleasures, her large-scale paintings also point to something mythical; unfolding human narratives existing at the liminal threshold of fantasy and reality. "Painting is a magical process of letting go," says Helene Pade. Now online, @lydunishka speaks to the breakout star of the art world, whose debut UK solo exhibition 'Søgelys' is currently on display at @thaddaeusropac Read the full story on a-rabbitsfoot.com and at the link in bio
