A weekend in the woods at @suwanneemusicpark is always so good for my heart. 💜 Our crew might have been smaller than past years, but after a two-year hiatus from @hulaweenfl 🔮 it felt amazing to be back with this group and run into so many familiar faces. 👻 Seeing @parcelsmusic at the park was an absolute dream 🎶 @planetsdigable was a bucket list act, @francmoody always brings it, and there were so many moments of pure joy and happiness. Huge shoutout to everyone who makes this event happen and to my friends for being ride-or-die festival partners 👯 and to my hubby for making an appearance. I have no voice, but it was 100% worth it. 🪩

Many of you may know that my dad was in the music business, and that my brother and I were lucky enough to attend concerts at an early age. We saw Run DMC, Public Enemy & KRS One at the Theater at MSG when we were in 3rd grade, and when we were in 4th grade we saw Bush at Madison Square Garden, and No Doubt at Nassau Coliseum. Those concerts were certainly important and memorable milestones in a life that has become dedicated to live music, but they led to perhaps the most important and earth-shattering concert of our young lives. The night we saw Oasis.
In the Summer of 1997, Oasis announced a US Fall tour that included two nights at Hammerstein Ballroom. My dad arranged for a large will buy for many of his employees at Profile Records and Sm:)e Communications to attend one of the shows, and asked if we wanted to go and invite some friends. Of course we said yes! We were ecstatic, and we quickly invited a few of our friends (each joined by a parental chaperone of course).
It was an absolutely unforgettable night. First non-arena, club concert. First time rocking out with a large group of friends (and many of my Dad’s employees who we had known since infancy). First REAL rock’n’roll show. The concert was off the charts. They played all the songs we loved; we sang their radio hits at the top of our lungs, we marveled at the extended versions of songs and huge guitar solos, and we were enamored by the Gallagher brothers’ cocky bravado and on-stage personas. If core memories are a real thing, this was as essential of a core memory that I can remember from that era of my life.

It has been 28 years since that night, and I have not seen Oasis in concert since. Of course, for 16 of those years they were broken up, and it seemed unlikely that they ever reunite. Well, as we now know, they unexpectedly did bury the hatchet, and tomorrow I’ll get to finally see them again after all of these years. To say I am excited is the understatement of the century
Jake turns 6 today….I guess we’ve been having lots of fun, because the last six years have flown by!!!
