We’ve been working with @jakebrownstein of @eggymusic to build instruments that keep up with the way he plays—soulful, dynamic, and constantly in motion. His approach leans heavily on touch and nuance and demands a guitar that responds instantly, translating subtle shifts in attack and feel into something you can hear from the stage.
Jake’s latest Arcade Ultra Light features a pair of our V.O. humbuckers, along with a custom single-coil in the middle position. The three-way toggle is not wired to the middle pickup, so it functions like a traditional two-pickup guitar—offering neck, neck/bridge, and bridge selections. A mini-toggle switch engages the middle pickup, allowing it to be combined with the humbuckers for added single-coil sparkle and chime while maintaining a more balanced output so that running through the pickup combinations isn’t unwieldy in terms of stage volume. The other two mini-switches provide independent coil splits for the humbuckers, giving you additional single-coil voicings.
The Ultra Light body chambering enhances the feedback response and touch sensitivity of the guitar, which Jake does an amazing job of harnessing!
