The Whimsical Kiss PART 3. Here’s a 360° video of my Hummingbird project. As I mentioned in my previous posts the structure is quite sturdy and here you can see why. As much as the bird wobbles a bit when moved, it’s locked in most of its body and all the way through the internal structure of the trunk. Here you can also see how I played with textures, layers, and colors to create a natural-looking, yet colorful, Hummingbird. The whole idea of the build was to create a tribute to nature but also with a magical twist, playing with colors and features that do not necessarily represent real life. The trunk was also an important part of the build as it gave life to the scene. I also played with colors, adding a pure brown texture to the trunk but adding life with berries, leaves, and a single large flower to draw the viewer's attention to that special section. However, if you take a closer look, you’ll see many hidden details and aspects all around.

The Whimsical Kiss PART 1. In a mystical and magical grove, a whimsical flower blossoms with the purest nectar amid berries of the sweetest taste. From that flower a colorful Hummingbird feasts on this magical plant. The end, stories are not my strong suit 😂. This is the largest, trickiest, most advanced, and daring MOC I’ve ever done. First of all, I’d like to thank my greatest inspiration in the LEGO community, @stensbylego , for inspiring me since the beginning of my recent LEGO journey. This MOC is a tribute to him, for he not only inspired me with unique techniques and amazing MOCs, but also with his kind words and by being a wonderful person! Also, I hold my eternal gratitude to my dear friends @interactivebricks and @abrickperday for helping me acquire the bulk of the parts I needed for the feathers. Also, thank you so much, @wjretratos , for capturing this build beautifully and helping me share it with the world! And finally, so much gratitude to my wife @lara_ravasio and my best friend @bri.bricks for their invaluable feedback throughout the entire process, for they really helped push the boundaries of the build’s concept. This build pays homage to the beauty of nature and one of my favorite birds, the hummingbird, for they are majestic, tiny creatures that deserve to be recreated in LEGO form to the best of my abilities. I was also inspired by the majestic bird photography of @viniciuskohnpassaros who was a fundamental source of inspiration when creating this project. There are only a few illegal techniques here and the entire frame for the hummingbird’s feathers uses flex tubes (Inspired by Rickard Stensby’s Chicken, of course) and the feathers are connected using a variety of clips so they are fragile, the entire structure however is locked tight with Technic connections so that from the tip of the trunk, from the point in which trunk and birds touches, to the tip the wings and entire body are rock-solid-connected, so it’s quite easy to move this around just by holding both bottom extremities of the trunk!

GARDEVOIR COMPOSITION. Swipe right to see the original reference I designed in Procreate. In my previous post, I wrote that I wanted to create not just a tribute to my favorite Pokémon, but what it really means to have a full art card, art itself. And to do that, I first created a drawing of what I imagined the background for Gardevoir should look like. First, I wanted my submission to give the feeling that it was painted with oil, so I used brush strokes instead of a realistic, organized setting. The scene had to be at night with a beautiful full moon to pay tribute to the MOONBLAST attack. And for that, I used shades of blue and pink. The scene itself is a blue and pink sky with the moon and some mountains in the background. A lake with the moon’s reflection on it, and the lake goes all the way to the bottom and changes axis to create a base for the Gardevoir. In the ground axis, I also decided to include Lotus flowers and teal water lilies. To complete the background I also added some Sakura trees to pay tribute to the wonders of Japan, and later changed the shade of the tree trunks to dark blue, considering the night setting of the scene, and it made sense. This is a bit of my inspiration for this build, hope you like it.

Moonblast Gardevoir. This was a special work of love to me. Gardevoir is my favorite Pokémon since a kid and I’m thankful to the ideas team for the opportunity to design such a special project for this incredible challenge. Full art cards are not just regular Pokémon cards. They embody the essence of the artist representing the Pokémon through their own artistic expression. To create my favorite Pokémon, Gardevoir, I decided to go above and beyond and design what it really means to be a full art card, an art on its own. The composition uses a design style with stacked plates to create the sensation that the background is painted with oil paintbrush strokes. What else invokes the feeling of true art more than an oil-painted artpiece? As for the idea of the background, I wanted to pay tribute to the beauty of Japan and also have a setting for the Moonblast attack. So shades of blue and pink gave life to the scene, with a large moon, a lake with the moon’s reflection, Sakura trees, and, changing plane axis, some Lotus flowers in the lake. As for Gardevoir itself. This Pokémon is one of the most difficult to capture in Lego form but to me, it was essential to capture both its grace and powerful posture.

PSYSTRIKE MEWTWO! My entry for the LEGO IDEAS POKÉMON TCG Challenge. Mewtwo is one of my favorite pokémon and in my humble opinion of the most menacing and mighty looking of them all. There’s just an aura that emanates from it that makes it so scary and powerful. To create this card, I decided to use a composition that conveyed a sense of power, as well as the Pokémon's psychic power and aura. For that reason, I used purple elements to create the background at the top, and at the bottom, I created a sort of energy burst using blue elements. Mewtwo’s eyes are blue in tribute to the moment it’s using its full powers and its eyes are blue when levitating stuff. So the rocks are also outlined in Dark Pink for that same reason, there are many references to that in the Anime and in TCG. Finally, the cherry on top is the Psystrike attack, to complete the Mewtwo menace 😅 Hope you like it!

#3064 TECHNIQUE ANALYSIS - The Whimsical Kiss @noble_studs When @noble_studs saw the colors that the newer Mario leaf (3565) comes in, he knew he had to make a vibrant hummingbird. Let’s go behind the scenes and see how this hummingbird was constructed! Pedro is part of our team at Tips&Bricks and is also the genius mind behind the Studio 101 series. Great work, Pedro! Post gives special mention to @viniciuskohnpassaros and @Bri.Bricks

I normally don’t do personal posts in my account, only MOCs. But honestly this time I’ll make an exception for a special occasion. This guy here is Thiago, my best friend in the LEGO community. He's also one of the most talented designers I know. So talented that today was the happiest goodbye I’ve ever had. A goodbye because he’s leaving soon for Billund to join The Lego Group as a model designer, and it’s with great satisfaction that I got to tell him, “I told you!” I always believed in his talents and always told him he would work for LEGO but it fills me with pride to see him getting there so fast! Godspeed Thiago! So excited to review your sets at @tipsandbricks in the near future! Go give Denmark a taste of Brazil 🇧🇷 And everyone please go give this talented dude a follow! @bri.bricks

This week my kid turns 1! And to celebrate his Birthday party last week I designed a cake topper for his Birthday Cake. It’s not the usual studless, technique-focused design I usually do, but I’m happy with the innocent, childish look it has. The theme of the party was space so I made an LBG and Bright Light Blue lunar terrain, an astronaut with his features, and an alien spaceship! It also had to be more minimalist to not draw attention away from the cake, and I hope my fellow LEGO lovers enjoy it! Pictures by the talented @wjretratos
