The American Association Kansas City Monarchs were proud to participate in today’s 3rd Annual March of the Monarchs in honor and celebration of the winning spirit of the Negro Leagues Kansas City Monarchs.
We’re so proud of our partnership with @nlbmuseumkc and are looking forward to celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 1924 Kansas City Monarchs winning season all summer long!
The Kansas City Royals Foundation, formerly Royals Charities, and the Kansas City @Royals for the third year in a row, will cover the cost of entrance for anyone visiting the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM) during February to celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth.
“We hope that students and adults alike will take advantage of this generous gesture to learn how America’s unsung baseball heroes helped change the game.” - @nlbmprez

A special edition of Coffee With Champions celebrated and remembered the life works of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
This morning, our local community in Kansas City joined the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum to hear from civic leaders as they reflected on today’s significance.
When Jackie Robinson stepped on the field with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947, he not only broke Major League Baseball’s color barrier, but ushered in America’s modern civil rights movement.
May we always reflect on the fascinating connection between “Baseball and Civil Rights” that changed America. The lessons and legacy of Negro Leagues Baseball will always resonate beyond the diamond.
“The time is always right to do what is right”
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
