Yesterday we walked along the Paseo, right by 18th & Vine in Kansas City. Those murals are a reminder of what the Negro Leagues meant at a time when Black players were shut out of Major League Baseball. Teams like the Kansas City Monarchs weren’t just playing the game, they were redefining it. Innovation, talent, resilience… all of it lived right there on those walls. Standing in front of the mural of John ‘Buck’ O’Neil, it hits even harder. He wasn’t just a player - he spent his life making sure these stories weren’t forgotten. The @nlbmuseumkc right there ties it all together. It’s not just about baseball stats or teams. You learn about the players, the barriers they broke, and the legacy they left behind.

Yesterday still feels surreal. Being in the very place where the framework for my future was built means everything to me. Rube established. Buck managed. Satchel pitched. Cool Papa ran. Jackie changed the game. So players like me can play. So many legends paved the way. That’s why I’m proud to share their stories and represent this legacy with purpose and respect. Their impact lives on through the next generation through players like me. Thank you Mr. @nlbmprez for allowing me to represent such a powerful and historic legacy. I stand for what it means to PITCH FOR THE FUTURE. I am part of the legacy. Honored to witness this moment alongside Congressman Cleaver, Mayor Lucas, Kelvin Simmons, city leaders, and board members who continue to invest in the future of this story. Every Buck Counts. Honored to attend today’s PITCH FOR THE FUTURE press conference with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum at the historic Paseo YMCA. On February 13, 1920, Andrew “Rube” Foster led a meeting of eight independent Black baseball team owners in this very building and established the Negro National League. Today, 106 years later, we gathered in that same space and unveiled the new NLBM Campus vision to grow the museum and carry the legacy forward. The history matters. The future is being built. I am the legacy. ⚾🔥 The future is now. Every Buck Counts. Donate at ⚾🔥

On this day in 1920, the Negro National League was founded in Kansas City by Andrew “Rube” Foster — a groundbreaking moment that created opportunity and a powerful legacy that forever changed the game of baseball. Known to many as the “Father of Black Baseball,” Foster was more than a league founder. He was also one of the most dominant pitchers and influential managers of the early 20th century, helping shape the game on and off the field. His impact was later recognized with his induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in 1981.
