SILO SYSTEMS
“Thanks to Silo Systems, the most sustainable restaurant on the planet exists.”
— Pablo Usobiaga, Baldío
What:
We build zero-waste food systems.
Not as theory — as working environments.
Kitchens, supply chains, fermentation, agriculture, materials, interior, brand. One system.
Who:
@mcmasterchef@maxmaclean — zero-waste systems
@studio_omelette — brand
@ninaandcodesign — spaceWhy:Because waste is a design failure. We construct environments where it cannot exist.We designed @baldio.mx to establish a new gold standard for environmentally progressive restaurants. Every layer was designed as part of a whole — kitchen, supply chain, menu, hospitality systems, training, events, and communication.
No waste. Just good systems.

Our @ninaandcodesign interior produced by @craftworks_productions is shortlisted in the Kitchen Interior category of @dezeenawards_ 2025 🙌 Crafted 15 minutes away from site using locally rescued london plane and British douglas fir.
We’re thrilled to announce that Nina’s House has been shortlisted for the @dezeenawards_ Dezeen Awards 2025 in the Sustainable House Renovation category!
A collaboration with @ninaandcodesign , Nina’s House is a deep retrofit of a cold, uninspiring 1970s house which is now transformed into a warm, low-energy, fossil fuel-free home that enables greater self-sufficiency for the family.
Using natural, local and recycled materials, the project celebrates what already exists - prioritising performance and circularity over demolition or extension.
A tactile, thoughtful home that sparks curiosity and a new approach to retrofitting.
We’re happy to be recognised alongside such incredible group of projects!

A commitment to using predominantly natural building materials (like cork) for Nina’s House has won us an @architectsjournal Retrofit & Reuse Award🥂 — Thank you to the judging panel for recognising our work and helping to shift construction and retrofit away from reliance on petrochemical derived materials and towards healthier natural ones. Congratulations to all the other nominees and winners this year. #architectsjournal
Thank you @dezeenawards_ for longlisting Nina’s House and well done to the whole team who worked so hard to create this low-energy, fossil fuel free, responsibly sourced family home.

Nina’s House, designed by interior studio Nina+Co in collaboration with architecture firm ROAR, retrofits a 1970s home in South Tottenham, London, into a fossil fuel-free, low-energy sanctuary. The exterior features thick expanded cork cladding for insulation, while the interiors showcase lime plaster walls sealed with a VOC-free glaze, a sculptural kitchen island crafted from reclaimed London plane wood, recycled plastic countertops and custom joinery made from locally sourced Douglas Fir triply board. This thoughtful blend of natural, recycled and local materials creates a warm, efficient home grounded in circular design and sustainability.

We are delighted to announce Nina’s House has been shortlisted for the @architectsjournal AJ Retrofit & Reuse Awards 2025 in the private/individual renovation (up to £600,000) category.
This project, in a collaboration with @ninaandcodesign . Nina’s house is an experimental sustainable retrofit in South Tottenham. It is a warm, resilient home using predominantly natural materials; which is fossil fuel-free, low energy and rich in tactile beauty - a quiet protest against demolition culture and a hopeful step towards more natural retrofitting.
Above all, it’s a home that invites curiosity, play, conversation and change - with a technical backbone that quietly hums beneath the natural finishes. A place to live lightly, yet fully✨
