Mélanie Scheiner (b. 1991, New York) is a Franco-American curator, writer, and translator. She holds an MFA in Curating from Goldsmiths College, University of London and a BFA in Drama from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. She has worked at institutions including Galerie Sultana, Hauser & Wirth, Swiss Institute, and the Jewish Museum. She is interested in the invisible systems and structures that govern or shape the lived experience, as well as practices that are attuned to the 'infraordinary' and engaged in the critique of everyday life. In 2019, she co-founded Maison Touchard, a curatorial platform hosted in domestic spaces dedicated to this last effect. Her research tends to coalesce around the subjects of memory, time, architecture, space, and illness. At NeverAtHome, Mélanie will develop The New Neurasthetics, an ongoing research project unfolding through residency and exhibition. Working in collaboration with Vienna-based artists, and drawing on the radiophonic history of the Funkhaus and the city’s psychiatric legacy, the project explores the interplay between sound, language, somatics, and nervous states.

In May, 2050+ presented 'Synthetic Cultures – Ch. 2', a video and research project on lab-grown meat, in the context of “My Body Is A Temple”, a group exhibition at the intersection of arts and critical technology studies curated by @carmen_lael_hines and @claragrillmaier (@neverathome ) at Funkhaus, in Vienna. 'Synthethic Cultures' was originally conceived for the 10th @architecturebiennale_rotterdam . • The site-specific installation unfolds across 3 interconnected environments. Room 1 (a space wrapped in semi-transparent pink latex) and 2 (an immersive soundscape) invite visitors to play with the illusion of having entered the interior of a body. Is it a human womb? A bovine one? Or an “artificial womb,” as bioreactors used in cultured meat production are sometimes called? Room 3 hosts the short film, which analyzes resources, bodies, and spaces from both technocratic and cultural perspectives, revealing their profound interconnections and imagining scenarios in which the implementation of cultured meat has had radical ecological and ethical consequences. On view through June 22nd. • Photos by @extrangeness , @pictureandform , @___radicale___ , Synthetic Cultures – Ch. 2 Conceived and designed by @2050.plus (@sai_______i , @fralantieri , @___radicale___ , @ippopeste , @eripet , @massimotnn ) Script Editor: James Westcott; Video Editor: @_giorgiodemarco_ ; Voice-over: Caterina Yuka Sforza; Sound Designer: @ayce_bio Scientific Advisor: @newharvestorg (Dwayne Holmes, Richard Thyden) Interviewees: benwurgaft, Federico Campagna, @ingridnewkirk (@peta ), linyeezy (@thisismold ), Ionat Zurr and Oron Catts (@symbiotica.lab ), Dott. Shared Infrastructures: Tools & Governance für Creative Spaces w/ Ramón Reichert Do., 21.05.2026 09.30 - 13.30 Biofabrique Vienna The workshop brings together actors from the artistic and creative field in order to collaboratively identify practice-oriented needs and develop empowering spaces for action. What kinds of infrastructures, tools, and concepts are needed for collective work today? Today, users primarily operate as passive end-users, excluded from processes of design, decision-making, and agency. Against this backdrop, the workshop opens with a theoretical introduction and overview of ownership, platform economies, and industrial data extraction. Building on this foundation, the workshop aims to collaboratively develop alternative approaches to non-commercial digital environments and sustainable cultures of use. The number of participants is limited. Please send us an email to [email protected] with 2-3 sentences about yourself, your organization and your motivation for participating in the workshop.
