I’ve been working on an interpretation of Courier, expanding on the legacy of one of the most iconic typefaces of the last century. Courier was originally designed in 1955, as Messenger, by Howard Kettler for IBM Over time, Courier became quietly iconic in its use on screenplays, official documents for the United States government and early coding environments with the rise of personal computers. Its monospaced structure gave each character equal width, ensuring a consistent structure Messenger revisits the complexity of Courier with new sensitivity, this interpretation contains a proportional cut, breaking free of the rigidity whilst retaining the soul of Courier. Courier was built for machines, Messenger is built for people Messenger is a work-in-progress typeface, with the italics being not being available right now ⚙️🛠️✏️ Beta Trials available via request: [email protected]

*Work-in-progress* 🏄‍♂️🛠 Canon (JN) started as an investigation into the history of grotesk and neo-grotesk designs, back in 2022. Soon after, the design started referencing three typefaces in particular – Univers, Folio & Helvetica. During the process, a series of diagrammatic artefacts were found, detailing a *new* neo-grotesk, these artefacts created a break-through in the journey it has taken. The word “canon” refers to a set of artistic works that are considered to be the standard lineage. The intention behind this, isn’t to adhere to what already exists, but to construct an alternative reality. Trials are available, with limited character sets, there's still a long way to go with this project: [email protected]

More BST Spyre & BST Spyre Epoch🌀🌀🌀 Spyre is a collection of two halves, The Spyre family embodies a robust text style, characterised by sturdy serifs, balanced cap widths, and a generous x-height. Meanwhile, Spyre Epoch challenges modern norms with heightened contrast, pointed and splayed serifs, traditional cap widths, and a lower x-height. Available at @britishstandardtype.xyz Renders @charlie__jeffries Dm if you have any questions or would like trials 🌱✨

I’m *very* proud to announce the release of Spyre, after many years of work this mega-project is finally available via @britishstandardtype.xyz 🌎✏️🦾 Spyre is a neo-classical serif typeface that traces the evolution of Roman forms into a modern transitional style. Comprising two distinct families—Spyre and Spyre Epoch—it initiates a dialogue between the minimalist approach of the renowned Crystal Goblet concept and intricate detailing reminiscent of ancient engravings I’d like to thank Matt & Haakon from @britishstandardtype.xyz for allowing me the space to produce this project, as well as their vision and feedback throughout this entire process. Their collective knowledge has made Spyre 10x better, I will be forever grateful for this. And @seb.mclauchlan for his generous time in nurturing this project, especially in the early stages. This typeface is a product of the knowledge and wisdom that he passed onto the 2000upm collective. @charlie__jeffries for the incredible renders I’d also like to thank all my friends, family and collaborators that I’ve spoken this project over with thousands of times I’m super excited to see what happens with this project, this feels like a special moment 🍀 Go check out the @britishstandardtype.xyz website for trials, previews and licensing options OR send me a dm✨✨✨

Me and @louishunt1 had the best time coming back to Kingston Graphic Design @ksa_graphicdesign to run a 2 day long workshop working with shapes, drawing type and tattoos The workshop itself ran in 3 stages, we started off with a shape workshop, giving the students a series of artists to make physical letters from and turn them into posters Stage 2 was all about drawing type on the screen and learning to use Glyphs, combining references to make something new and exciting And finally we all designed tattoos with the type we had been developing during the workshop✍️ Thank you so much @marcus.leis.allion and all the students involved it was really special 🌎 🔴🔷🟪
