haziでは、現在滞在中のアーティスト Yifan Heによる1日限定の個展とワークショップ 「if (!gListening) {」 を開催します。
Yifanは、言葉は私たちが互いに生きる構造を指示する「呪文」だと言います。本作は、そのような言葉の力に目を向けながら、「聞くこと／聞かないこと」、そして言葉が人と人との関係に与える影響について考える試みです。
タイトルに含まれる ! は、プログラミングにおいて否定を意味する記号です。また gListening は、glistening（きらめく）と listening（聞く）を重ねた言葉遊びでもあります。
また会期中には、参加者自身の耳の内側の型を取るワークショップを行います。聞くことを単に情報を受け取る行為としてではなく、他者との距離や、身体、親密さに関わるものとして捉え直します。
Yifan He（they/them）
収集、鋳造、マイクロコントローラーボードのプログラミングを通して、身体化、所属、親密さに関する前提化された構造に問いを投げかけるインスタレーションやパフォーマンスを制作しています。
スレード美術学校を卒業後、City of London x Set Studiomakers Prizeを受賞し、UCL Eastのアーティスト・イン・レジデンスにも選出されました。これまでに、Enclave Projects（ロンドン）、Backlit Gallery（ノッティンガム）、Cone Shape Top（オークランド、カリフォルニア）、Tomorrow Maybe Gallery（香港）など、イギリス国内外で作品を発表しています。また、EU Digital Futures、Toolkits for Counterparts、CTM Festival 2021からコミッションを受けています。

Funny how haunted home— the project abt the precariousness of renting, intended to question the ideal of rootedness— was put on a halt when I made a much needed decision to leave the room where this game was built on, voxels by centimeters.
Again feeling exhausted, lacking time to think too much abt the good n neutral memories associated with one room in one council flat that no longer holds, I unbox my things and wish myself good luck and more time to unfold

Sharing the process of this new skill I picked up this year ->-> I finally had a good pour with pewter (no air traps!) It is also a painful but good process perfecting my mould making skills (this nb can do a proper two part mould now).
As always very bad at taking process pictures But it is with much pride I present to you this little sculpture I made! How to install/ use them in a proper installation will come soon (wait till I accumulate some braincells!)

The game has been in dev since 2021. It is with Forrest’s book rec (Against Landlord by Nick Bano), and Sahaya’s tirelessly unpacking with me on Ikea dates, that I am now able to re-enter this dense voxel space (for slow deconstruction (again))
I get to hold prolonged convo with people about (not)belonging when making this game. It is so great being able to present this (forever in dev) project for a public event— would love to have people to come for the 2 hr slot and just have a chat, share resources, tell stories.
I hope to see some people there!!

As we stay “On the verge”, we near the brink of collapse. There is fear in motion, a breath is caught and held, and the breaking point makes itself known. In contrast, “on the cusp” signals the hopeful promise of the uncertain, the fragile passage towards clarity. Drawing inspiration from personal experiences of uncertainty —whether facing emotional crossroads, moments of catharsis, or navigating life transitions—this exhibition explores the generative potential between belonging and un-belonging, creation and doubt, and the personal and external structures that shape transformation. Bringing together painting, sculpture, installation, and performance, the artists respond to concepts of change and uncertainty in regards to gender expression, youth culture, intergenerational communication, and the interior shifts of the human psyche.
