When war forces you to pause, returning with purpose becomes an act of resistance in itself. @fashrevsudan knows this well. Since its founding in 2020, the organisation has championed sustainability, cultural identity, and community within the fashion space, but the outbreak of conflict in Sudan in April 2023 demanded a necessary step back. Now, with renewed energy and an expanded cross-border presence, Fashion Revolution Sudan is back, and last month’s Fashion Revolution Week theme of “Collective Action” could not be more fitting. Operating primarily from Cairo, with a growing footprint in Nairobi, the team has spent this landmark year rebuilding momentum through collaboration by partnering with organisations across Egypt, Ethiopia, and beyond to spark meaningful conversations about heritage, slow fashion, and what it means to create with conscience in the midst of displacement. This time, the tram stop was at the first edition of the “Fashion and jabana” event, in partnership with our dear partners @fashrevsudan and @anbessa_restaurant_cafe @anbessa_restaurant_cafe Anbesa We gathered from Sudan, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Eritrea,🇸🇩🇪🇬🇪🇷🇪🇹each participant sharing a part of their work, demonstrating how fashion is not just about clothes, but about memory, identity, and stories that are passed down between people and countries. In the fabric stories ” workshop, we shared our stories, creating from discarded materials, using colors, and of course, the taste and aroma of cheese, which added warmth and flavor to the stories. The first edition of Fashion & Jabana was a success! We are thankful to have partnered with @anbessa_restaurant_cafe to bring together fashion enthusiasts from Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Egypt in their welcoming space 🇸🇩🇪🇷🇪🇹🇪🇬 We sipped on freshly brewed Jabana, shared our fashion and jewelry creations during the "Show & Tell" activity and then proceeded to do a slow-stitch "Fabric Stories" activity led by our partner @tramalwan , where fabric scraps were used to make a collective fashion art collage, transforming how we envision waste and creating something beautiful, individually and as a community 🎨✨🪡 Ending #FashionRevolutionWeek2026 on a high note, all while embracing the spirit of #CollectiveAction - stay tuned for more amazing things coming very soon!
