It was a real pleasure to be invited to join a panel hosted by @ziroziroworld for @notts_can Beatknots Music Festival at @mimm.studios , reflecting on the past 9 years of involvement in music promotion, my 1.5 year journey with @coldcoldbrewed and what it looks like navigating the industry today.
A lot has changed over the last decade: how music is discovered, how communities form around artists, and the way events are built from the ground up. Spaces like this are important, not just for sharing honest insights with the next generation coming into the industry, but also for contextualising and reminding ourselves why we started doing this in the first place.
Grateful for everyone who came through to listen, ask questions, and to be part of the dialogue with @shekaylarewyld , @robertadtodd and @parisaeast !

Notts heavyweight DJ promoter and owner of @coldcoldbrewed Sonu has spent years honing their craft and sound as a DJ from early residencies such at Krudd moving forward to collaborations with hugely established Nottingham community and music organisations such as Mimm and Stealth!

“I do, however, vividly remember listening to Benga & Coki – Night through some absolutely rubbish desktop speakers after an older friend told me to check it out while I was in an Xbox Live party playing MW2. I put it on and was completely mesmerised by it. The sub bass, the space in the track, and that strange squid visual that used to accompany it on YouTube. It all felt dark, alien, and mad exciting at the time”

I'll be supporting Nottingham and underground music legend @geiom_berkane_sol for the showcase of his new live set alongside Hizatron and Erra at @movers.venue .
I've also had the privilege over the last few years to contribute to @ouryarduk 's archive vault of interviews with @natecoltrane and @lvndlxrd_uk , where they will be exhibited at the @new_art_exchange from Friday at their exhibition launch.
I'm very happy to be part of such an important project celebrating Caribbean and Sound System Culture alongside some key figures within the community🇯🇲🔊
