Tomorrow. @britishfilminstitute Southbank. KAYA gets its first public pitch. 🖤
I'm pitching KAYA at the @ukasianfilmfest Future Forward UK-India Co-Production Day — and the event is sold out! Feels like the right room for a film like this.
KAYA is a feminist horror fable written and directed by the @filmfare award winning @priyankabans — about colourism, class, and what it costs a woman to abandon herself in pursuit of beauty. A UK-India co-production between @taketheshotfilms and @traintripperfilms , set across Mumbai, the forests of Maharashtra, and London.
Thank you to @drpkchowdhry MBE, msamitkaur, @themightymuse and the entire UKAFF team for creating a space where stories like these get heard.
And to the team in India - @traintripper and @itsabhisheksharrma — thank you for trusting me with this. See you on the other side. 🎬

UKAFF Roundtable episode is out now 🎬
A powerful conversation on cinema today, the challenge of bringing audiences back to theatres, and the incredible work of filmmakers whose stories often don’t get the recognition they deserve.
If you care about meaningful cinema and untold stories, this one’s for you. Go watch now 👀
Attend The UKAFF from May 1-10th!
Not every story gets the screen it deserves!
In today’s world, getting people into theatres has become harder than ever and with that, so many powerful films and passionate filmmakers go unnoticed.
UKAFF is creating space for bold, unapologetic South Asian stories that aren’t widely distributed or promoted but deserve to be seen, felt, and remembered.
Because some stories aren’t made for algorithms… they’re made for the big screen.
Would you show up for stories like these? 👀
Attend UKAFF: May 1 - 10.
The UK-India corridor is one of the most significant frontiers for cinema today, but navigating it requires more than just a great script - it requires a roadmap.
I’m proud to work alongside @ukasianfilmfest to bridge that gap, helping filmmakers move from treaty guidelines to real-world production.
🗓️ Join us on May 9th 2026 at BFI Southbank to demystify UK-India co-production.

Two Sikh men were fined, jailed, and challenged for wearing their turbans while riding motorcycles — but they refused to back down.
Their courage, conviction, and stand for faith helped lead to a historic change in UK law, protecting the rights of Sikhs in Britain.
Now, Sikhlens Destination S – UK is proud to begin production on a new film telling the untold true story of Gyani Sundar Singh Sagar Ji and Baldev Singh Chahal Ji — pioneers whose sacrifice changed history.
Directed by filmmaker Amit Kaur, this important project is now underway in the UK.
We welcome support from the Sangat to help bring this powerful story to the world.

When you’ve lived across cultures, the stories you tell naturally carry those layers. Identity, migration, belonging - they’re not themes you plan; they’re simply in the DNA of who you are.
For me, it felt like a full-circle moment - a girl from Punjab sharing space in Berlin, talking about stories that travel across borders.
Sharing a clip from the conversation at @efm_europeanfilmmarket , from a panel hosted by @afroberlinxyanibes with Ernest White II (@ernestwhiteii ), Mona Ombogo (@monwon82 ), and filmmaker Olive Nwosu (@olivenwosu ), whose feature LADY premiered at @berlinale .
