Same foundation. New context.

Coming to ITCH FM in the early 2000s was a blessing as an up and coming DJ. Pre Channel U and pre 1Xtra Itch showcased an underrepresented UK hip-hop scene via a squad of raw and talented DJs. Early morning till late night, we'd find ourselves in various estate blocks across the city, blastin' across the airwaves all for the love of the music. Despite the fact we could be busted by the DTI at any given moment (leading to confiscated gear, records and hefty fines) it didn't matter, we pushed on. In association with sister label Kemet Entertainment Records several artists were frequently promoted on the station including Klashnekoff and Terrafirma. I'd end up serving as their tour DJ over a 2-year run up and down the country. At times 4 nights a week all while juggling a 9 to 5 during the day. This landed me on stages at Fabric, Jazz Cafe and The Forum to name a few. 26 years on ITCH is still going, now online and aptly titled ITCH RADIO. The quest to provide opportunities and nurture young talent is still the same but now through initiatives run by ITCH RADIO CIC . There's a lot to be said for humble beginnings and passion.
