What does creative excellence actually look like right now?
We put that question to Tosh Hall, Global Chief Creative Officer at @jkrglobal , for the latest episode of Design Next.
Our fave takeaway from this pod?
Own your spike: Early on, Tosh was told he was exceptional at one thing and average at others. Stop trying to fix your average.
“Make the brilliance more brilliant.” 💬

🌻 What do you think: is the industry finding its edge again, or are we still too busy looking at each other?

Today’s the day.
Tonight we host the first New York edition of Hear Here.
Hear Here exists to strengthen the gender diversity of those in creative leadership.
🌺 We’re not here to ‘fix’ the pipeline. Or to create an echo chamber about barriers. We want to invest in the people already doing the work, and making the change, and give them a space to think and connect.
🤌 Tonight that room includes senior leaders from agencies, studios, and brand-side creative teams across New York. It is one of the strongest gatherings of creative decision-makers we’ve put together. 🌸
See you tonight!
Thank you to our friends at @further_agency for sharing your studio space with us for this event 🫶

The world around us is changing at a fierce pace... and women of the design industry are more ready than ever to confront challenge, embrace shifts, and adapt.
Next week we’re hosting Hear Here in New York for the first time, bringing the topic of Creating Change to leaders in our industry.
With three inspiring panelists:
Magali Johnson, Senior Client Director at @further_agency
Jolene Delisle, Founder & Creative Director of @workingassembly

We’ll explore:
💥 the biggest moments of change they’ve ever experienced
👉 how personal shifts have impacted their career journey
❤️🔥 and what they want to shake up next.
These leaders have embraced change, yes, they’ve managed teams through change, but, most importantly, they create it.
Hosted at Further’s studio, we’re excited to discuss what change means to those spearheading it in the industry.

Setting goals: are you more bitesize or BHAG?
Joining us on the pod this week is Alex Bec, Co-founder of @itsnicethat and @_creativelives .
💭 His dream outcome? It’s one he knows probably won’t happen in his lifetime. That the creative industry becomes so open, so equitable, so genuinely accessible, that his own initiative becomes redundant.
But reaching for something so huge is paralysing to most - when most people can actually be acheveing so much more for the industry by moving the dial by just 1%. 📈
If you say that protecting the future of design is important to you - if you’ve ever made a promise to help junior talent - do it.
