Social investing is often, controversially, dismissed. While impact matters to more people than ever, it’s still often seen as “feel-good finance” with compromised returns. The result? A lack of investments in social good. Enter Advanced Portfolio Management’s new division, Social Investment Solutions (SIS): dedicated to scientifically proving the financial value of social investment. Built on a proprietary platform grounded in rigorous research and analytics, SIS quantifies—precisely—how social factors affect financial outcomes. Our challenge? Convince the skeptics. SIS approached Cotton to establish immediate credibility for the brand, as applied through a white paper, website prototype, and data visualization system. Our response: Data comes first, not brand. We built a data-first identity where data visualizations define the design system. A broad color palette signals transparency, editorial inspired typography reinforces authority, and nature photography grounds everything within the social space.

Scenes from a short film and graphic system we produced for System Health, a health innovation company transforming the way we use and understand health data. The visualization is an artistic simulation of our health, how it *really* works—not in silos, but in connection with everything else around us—from our zip codes to our habits to our genes. It has been used to communicate the System mission, and has acted as the starting point for the evolution of the brand as well. More to come on the full... system... soon. :) Design & code led by @noah_oclock_ Creative & technical direction @taliasaccount

(Sound on!) Micro-doses of creativity. That’s how @noomalooma is injecting play back into the routine. And as early as this week, NoomaLooma launches its beta in the App Store. (Stay tuned!) Cotton partnered with co-founders @once.upon.a.grid and @pieraluisa to develop the NoomaLooma brand and initial product language for a platform built around small moments of making. The brand is simply: all play. Generative O’s become the central element—popping up, duplicating, bouncing, looping. The logo itself is malleable. On the launch website, users can bend it, stretch it, and mess with it. Imperfect scribbles wander throughout the system. Dragging, moving, and playful interaction are core to the experience. Then there are the Noomies: Playful avatars the community builds through an exquisite-corpse–style builder where users assemble characters from colors, eyes, noses, hair, and accessories—some whistling, some bow-wearing, all a little strange and joyful. Already, the early community has logged 2,000+ creative acts and more than 10,000 minutes spent creating instead of consuming. Congrats to the NoomaLooma team on this milestone—we can’t wait to see where it goes next. Designer/coders @ck.o @min.c03

System organizes the world’s knowledge as one interconnected system. System Health brings that thinking to medicine, revealing the hidden relationships between the many forces that shape health and disease. Cotton was invited to create a generative visual system that could embody this idea. The resulting motif depicts health for what it is: a living network in flux. Biological, behavioral, and environmental factors interact. Forces come in varying degrees. Conditions linger or fade. Dormant drivers reawaken as circumstances change. Symptoms emerge and recede. And trails reveal the shifts over time, showing how one change can trigger another, cascade across the system, or quietly dissipate. Nothing stands alone; everything affects another. The system becomes a dynamic portrait of health itself: complex, interconnected, and always evolving. Design & code led by @noah_oclock_ Creative & technology direction @taliasaccount
