Carlos is MAGICAL! A remarkably special young mover, it’s no wonder he gained acceptance to every school he applied to! Whether he’s effortlessly gliding through air in contemporary, flawlessly executing technique Ballet, touring a Broadway Musical, or featured in a Bad Bunny Music Video, Carlos embodies the VERSATILITY and EXCELLENCE that Darius Barnes lived by. On top of his artistry on stage, we know Carlos’ work ethic, professionalism, and genuine kindness will take him far! Aaliyah first auditioned for MOVE in just the 8th grade and over the last 4 years has emerged as a remarkable young dancer and a leader amongst her peers. We can think of no better way to celebrate this year’s theme than by having our original Young Professionals Program alumni host this year’s gala! 🌟 Waverly Fredericks & Jada Vaughan Gala Co-Hosts Since MOVE|NYC|, Jada has earned her BFA from USC’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance and is now a company dancer with Saint Louis Dance Theatre, where she bridges African Diasporic and contemporary dance forms through powerful, intentional performance. After graduating from The Juilliard School and becoming a Top 8 finalist on So You Think You Can Dance, Waverly has collaborated with renowned choreographers and brands including Ohad Naharin, MUGLER, Jordan, Vogue Italia, and Abercrombie & Fitch Fragrance while continuing to expand his voice as a choreographer, creative director, and storyteller. 🌟 Sophia Wolbrom Gala Chair Sophia Wolbrom is an arts professional and performer with an international background spanning New York, Washington, D.C., Edinburgh, and Toronto. She currently serves as lead producer at her company Know Smoke Productions, Events & Consulting. A singer and storyteller, she combines creative vision with administrative expertise to develop solo shows and alternative performances. Her newest solo work, Danger Plan!, will debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August. 🌟 Corey Hawkins Gala Co-Chair Corey Hawkins broke out as Dr. Dre in Straight Outta Compton and has since emerged as one of the most compelling actors of his generation, with standout roles in The Color Purple and The Tragedy of Macbeth. He earned a Tony nomination for Topdog/Underdog, which won Best Revival of a Play. We first met Nathan at our OPEN ACCESS Intensive and he quickly became an unforgettable part of the Class of 2026! Nathan is a “scene stealer” cause when he’s on stage, it’s hard to look anywhere else. A captivating dancer with a special flare for commercial work, Nathan was already a National @youngarts winner with Distinction in just his junior year of HS! Joshua first auditioned for MOVE’s YPP his freshman year of High School, which ignited his love of dance, and especially Ballet! Over the course of his high school career we have watched him blossom into a versatile and captivating young artist. It’s no wonder this year he placed 3rd in the @yagp classical division! Sophia Wolbrom is an arts professional and performer with an international background spanning New York, Washington, D.C., Edinburgh, and Toronto. She currently serves as lead producer at her company Know Smoke Productions, Events & Consulting. Sophia is also a philanthropist, most notably she sits as a member of the Board of Directors for MOVE|NYC| where she is an outspoken advocate for the organization’s mission. She is both thrilled and honored to be Gala Chair this year. A singer and storyteller, she combines creative vision with administrative expertise to develop solo shows and alternative performances. Her newest solo work, Danger Plan!, will debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August. Sophia serves on the MOVE|NYC| Board of Directors, and we’re thrilled to have her as our Gala Chair.
