𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐤 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐮𝐦: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐁𝐲 𝐊𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐀. 𝐊𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐛, 𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐦, 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞 As part of @sharjahart ‘s publishing grant, we had the privilege of working with Khaled Khatib, an engineer from Jerusalem and current director of Palestine Heritage Museum, to publish his first-hand account of the tumultuous history of the Palestine Folk Museum, an extraordinary collection of costumes, jewellery, tools, and other traditional items from Palestine. Originally gathered by a group of colonists and Palestinians during the British Mandate era, the collection has since been publicly exhibited, preserved, and repeatedly salvaged by activists who foresaw the disappearance of heritage crafts and historical objects from various regions of Palestine as a result of the Israeli occupation. The book narrates the complexities of creating a museum collection led by interfaith and interracial community members, while also presenting a history of the occupation of Palestine through the lens of heritage and traditional crafts. Visual identity for @nessijcollective creating mobility opportunities for the Tunisian art scene reinforcing links in the Global South.

#bookdesign “I Died a Thousand Times” is a series of images and written words that trace the life and death cycles within the Palestinian landscape, focusing on wild thistle plants covering the sacred hills of central Palestine from early spring to late summer. Throughout these seasons, the hills transform through three distinct cycles of colour—red, green, and yellow. The thistles in book were collected and imaged around Dar Jacir and the Cremisan Valley in Bethlehem, Ein Kenya in Ramallah, and Khirbet Al Samara in Salfit. Each page blends familial memories, weaving together dreamlike accounts, personal stories, and surreal happenings unearthing and forging novel connections between Palestinian and their landscape. All images in this book were captured using a 35mm camera on black-and-white film, developed manually and scanned digitally. “Kubri Siteen” Restaurant Exploration Game Part of the project If We Close Our Eyes, It’s Still The Same, commissioned by @hayyjameel This commission held special significance for @musta2fa and me. In 2019, we created a guidebook documenting street art in AlBalad, AlKandara, and AlAmmariya. Through that work, we realised that graffiti marks territories of protection, spaces for gathering, play, and urban mythologies — which resulted to an alternative guidebook of those neighbourhoods centring the memories and daily life of their local residents. Fast-forward to 2024: we realized that in a rapidly changing city, a guidebook quickly becomes an archive. As we once traced stories through graffiti, this game now traces the paths of restaurants and cafeterias that relocated as a result of urban transformation — particularly in South Jeddah. We explored where they moved, how they adapted, and how their menus, branding, and clientele evolved. This heartwarming project reminded us of the human ability to persevere and thrive, of Jeddah’s enduring nature, and that there will always be a place for us in her. Thank you to the communities of Albaghdadiyah, Alkandara, and AlAmmariya for their warmth, and to the Hayy Jameel team for supporting this project. Expanding on @electrasimon exploration of the boundaries of sacred, private and public spaces, Confessions إعتـراف is an interactive, ‘live’ exhibition taking place @takeover.beirut Visual Identity by @mooni.studio Originally inspired by the structure of the Confession Box - where physical separation provides both a freedom and an intimacy that can intensify human connection rather than isolation - people are invited to come into the space alone and share thoughts, stories and sketches that arise. These ‘Confessions’ are then interpreted (anonymously) into new artwork that will be created in the same space.
