MOWAA (Museum of West African Art) - Museum in the Making. Preview Nov 4-5, 2024, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. We’ve had the privilege of working with MOWAA since its inception on an ambitious vision. This preview was an exercise that aimed to explore how a new museum could potentially reframe the intersections between our material and cultural heritage. The vision of MOWAA’s program hopes to explore the Museum as a deconstructed space. Creating a campus driven by the ambition of interwoven, collaborative, and contemplative threads, specific to our region and context. 🙏🏿 …to #moeaateam and the wider design, construction, and cultural programming teams—Nnamdi, Adenike, Azeez, Fatima, Julie, Dike, Koso, Duche, Tosin, Adewale, Yinka, Mr. John, Michael & Alex @AM , Peace @kasa_konsultants_rammed_earth , Sami & A&K, Adjaye Associates, FOAB, Sea Surveyors, Avantis, Arup, Green Africa, The Benin Guilds (Bronze Casters & Pottery). Thank you to @mowaaofficial and the entire team for their passion and dedication—Phillip, Ore, Aindrea, Osaheni, Bolatito, Iwinosa, Hadiza, Kathleen, Temi, Alex, Joe, Kingsley, Segun-Bello, Dr. Segun, Charles, and many more… …and of course, in the height of Nigeria’s expansive Art Season, a very big thank you to everyone who came to support and show love (from far and wide). Stay blessed, good people. 🙏🏿 Here’s to the journey ahead in 2025… _ #moeaa #museumofwestafricanart #mowaa #benincity

In truth, I am not yet able to fully articulate my experience but what I can say is that the door into this world only opens when I surrender.* - Ada Sol I believe that the most important work moves us deeply and even though it may confront us with the expansive vastness of many things unknown. It feels like the reassuring squeeze of the hand from a loved one. It reaffirms a connection.
