I got off the bus to Chiang Mai — the one I booked impromptu — for the halfway rest stop at 11:58PM, 31/12/24. I run to the little space next to the shitter, which opened out into a field where fireworks embroidered the expanding dark. the bus puked me out to a 7am new years day chiang mai. sleepy and delirious, I hike up to a temple. I perch on a rock to watch butterflies dance further up than I knew they could fly. I skip down the mountain, trusting where my feet intuitively wanted to fly for some possessed hours. I meditate in the temple, feel sunshine on my skin. I continue to think about faith, the kind that inspires you to commit baselessly, stupidly, steadfastly, day in day out. my new years resolution is to become the butterflies I saw on my hike, frolicking near the trees in that clearing in the mountain, flowing in aching colours ! as the years go on, it feels harder to be permeable, 100% sensitivity, all eyes and open to drink it all in.. how to hold that space, strong enough to believe in coming & going, without fears of tainting.. but butterflies, lakes, trees do it. they remind me that this is it, this is all there is, no more rush to chase
